About the role

As the NOC Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our wireless internet services.

What you will be doing

  • Manage NOC Operations: 
  • Direct and manage the daily operations of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) to ensure the smooth functioning of our network infrastructure.
  • Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting
  • Implement and oversee network monitoring systems to proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Incident Management
  • Lead the response to network incidents, including outages, performance degradation, and security breaches. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Capacity Planning
  • Monitor network capacity and traffic patterns to anticipate future growth and plan for network expansion accordingly.
  • Performance Optimization
  • Continuously evaluate network performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement. Implement changes and upgrades as necessary to enhance network reliability and efficiency.
  • Security Management
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of our network infrastructure and customer data.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Generate regular reports on network performance, uptime, and incidents for management review.
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to NOC technicians and engineers. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the NOC team.

Minimum requirements (qualifications, skills and experience, other)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in network operations, preferably in a wireless internet service provider environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in networking protocols, equipment, and technologies, including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Proficiency in incident management and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and subnetting.
  • Proficiency in configuring, deploying, and managing network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. Familiarity with vendor-specific platforms (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark, and SNMP-based monitoring solutions.
  • Ability to effectively manage network incidents, including outage response, root cause analysis, and incident resolution. Experience with incident management frameworks such as ITIL is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, including access control, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security best practices.
  • Experience in capacity planning and network performance optimization, including the ability to analyze traffic patterns, forecast future demand, and plan for network expansion.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Ability to generate regular reports on network performance, uptime, and incidents for management review.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of NOC technicians and engineers. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in a timely and efficient manner. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and methodologies in the telecommunications industry. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent industry certifications are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to professional development and expertise in networking.
