We’re seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to ensure that the company processes personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws. You will be responsible for ensuring GDPR compliance towards all stakeholders, especially the governing authorities. You will also be responsible for independently communicating with all relevant employees to promote data protection compliance within the organization

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of data protection and compliance across all units of the organization;
  • Informing, advising, raising awareness and training the organization on GDPR policies and procedures;
  • Carrying out privacy impact assessments;
  • Developing, maintaining and implementing data protection and privacy risk framework and processes;
  • Overseeing the implementation of controls to ensure GDPR compliance;
  • Liaising with the organization to ensure that required security controls are implemented;
  • Handling data subject requests such as access, amendment or deletion requests;
  • Dealing with internal and external audits;
  • Ensuring breach investigations are carried out and incidents are managed and reported to the relevant stakeholders;
  • Serve as the main point of contact within the organization for staff members, regulators, and relevant public authorities on issues related to data protection;
  • Evaluate the existing data protection framework to identify areas of no or partial compliance, and rectify any issues;
  • Inform and advise the data controller or data processor on all matters related to data protection;
  • Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements;
  • Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders;
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues;
  • Maintain records of all data processing activities of the company.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Law or a Data Protection related qualification;
  • 3+ years of experience working in a similar role;
  • Possessing advanced knowledge in GDPR, national data protection laws and data processing operations;
  • Tech savviness;
  • You are self-motivated and possess a positive, ‘can-do’ mindset;
  • You are able to define, structure and prioritize workload, with the flexibility to change direction when required;
  • Proficiency with software for preparing reports and presentations;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages preferred), with strong attention to detail.
