Responsibilities:

Financial Records Management

  • Responsible for recording and maintaining up-to-date records of the company’s daily financial transactions in line with IFRS.
  • Responsible for preparing the month-end closure schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate supporting documents e.g. invoices and receipts are attached to every financial transaction on the ERP with hardcopies made available for filing.
  • Regular review and reconciliation of Statement of Financial Position accounts and preparation of schedules that agree with the General Ledger balances monthly.
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and preparation of Bank Reconciliation Statements monthly. 
  • Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.


Payment Processing & Payables Management

  • Promptly send Remittance Advice for payments processed to requesting vendors.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reconciling vendors' accounts and ensuring credit balances with vendors are promptly utilized.
  • Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments at all times.
  • Ensure withholding tax is properly deducted and remitted on behalf of vendors.
  • Ensure prompt posting of all expenses and payments in the accounting system.
  • Responsible for ensuring only properly authorized requisitions are paid.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end closing of accounts payables including monthly accruals of liabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of obligations due at any point in time.
  • Ensure payment terms on purchase orders issued by vendors are honored.
  • Responsible for scrutinizing purchase requisitions submitted by various departments to validate the necessity and reasonableness of requests, amongst other things.
  • Ensure all purchase requisitions processed have been approved by a responsible party.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company receives value (good or service) for all payments made prior to good or service delivery.
  • Responsible for ensuring goods/services received match approved purchase requisition.


Risk and Compliance

  • Responsible for oversight of the processes, and procedures including but not limited to compliance with policies and procedures, payment terms, exception management, etc.
  • Ensure that the company is not exposed to regulatory and statutory issues.
  • Ensure regular filings and remittances of tax and statutory remittances
  • Ensure all compliance-related documents are obtained before deadlines.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure prompt remittance and collection of tax credit notes.


External Audit & Taxation

  • Provide all the necessary financial documents and support required by the external auditors during external audits.
  • Responsible for ensuring external audits are scheduled and conducted promptly before applicable statutory deadlines.
  • Liaison with external auditors and tax consultants on any matters arising.
  • Responsible for ensuring approved recommendations by the external auditors are properly implemented. 
  • Manage LIRS and FIRS audits for the company and its related parties.


Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain the company’s statutory, tax, compliance documents and correspondence on Confluence
  • Respond to all requests for documents from other departments.
  • Manage the airtime disbursement for staff
  • Provide weekly cash reports to the management.
  • Carry out the weekly count of the safe and its contents.
  • Handle all bank correspondences.
  • Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by your line manager.


PII CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collection of personal information from customers, site visitors, and other targets
  • Must determine the process and methods by which the PII data are collected from customers
  • Must determine the specific type of PII data to be collected
  • Must ensure all changes and modifications of PII data are effectively done
  • Must determine where and how to use the PII data and for a specified purpose
  • Must ensure effective storage of all PII data in-house and when to share with third parties
  • Must determine the retention period for all PII data collected


Qualification & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 but not more than 5 years experience
  • BSC in Accounting with a minimum of 2.1 GPA
  • ICAN or ACCA Certified Accountant.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Sound knowledge of International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS) and its application.
  • Solid understanding of risk and control concepts
