What we are looking for

A highly proficient network engineer to be based in the Worcester region to work in close collaboration with our Technical operations and Network engineering teams. As a member of our team, your primary responsibility will be the meticulous upkeep and vigilant monitoring of TooMuchWifi’s  rapidly expanding network.

About the role

The Network and Technical Support Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of computer networks within an organisation, and is responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and communication systems. Network technicians are essential in supporting the organisation's connectivity and for ensuring that employees can effectively communicate and access resources.


As a network technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of an organisation's network infrastructure. By installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems, enable efficient communication and collaboration among employees. 


Your expertise in network technologies and strong problem-solving skills contribute to the overall productivity and security of the organisation. With the constant evolution of technology, your role as a network technician remains vital in adapting and maintaining reliable network environments. What you will be doing

Technical Operations

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless equipment at customer and reseller locations.
  • Perform regular maintenance and upgrades of wireless network components.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues and provide technical support to customers.
  • Conduct site surveys and assess signal quality for optimal network performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, equipment inventory, and customer interactions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the proper handling of equipment and tools.

Warehousing

  • Manage and oversee daily warehouse operations, including inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of inventory levels and transactions.
  • Implement efficient warehouse organisation and storage practices.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for timely deliveries and returns.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, including training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
  • Maintain a safe and organised warehouse environment, adhering to safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement inventory management policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless inventory flow.

Network

  • Install, configure, and maintain wireless networking equipment, including access points, radios, backup power solutions and antennas.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, both remotely and on-site.
  • Assist in the expansion and upgrade of network infrastructure as needed.
  • Monitor network performance and conduct regular health checks to identify potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory and service activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the proper handling of equipment and tools.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technologies through ongoing training.

Office 

  • Oversee daily office operations, including stock dispatch, scheduling, and IT infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement office policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate communication and workflow.
  • Handle escalated customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the office network infrastructure, including servers, routers, and switches.
  • Monitor network performance, security, and availability.
  • Prepare and manage the IT department budget.
  • Control IT-related expenses and optimize resource allocation

Minimum requirements (qualifications, skills and experience, other)

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, etc.).
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of cabling standards and experience with physical network installations.
  • Ability to document network configurations and procedures accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA) are beneficial but not always required.
