TEAM AND POSITION


We are seeking a seasoned General Counsel to lead Dash Living’s legal function across our global footprint. In this role, you won’t just manage risk, you’ll be a strategic architect of our growth. You will join a high-calibre, institutional-grade team comprised of industry veterans with backgrounds from Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, PAG, Morgan Stanley, Ares Management, Fortress Investment, TPG Angelo Gordon, and other top-tier firms.


This is a hands-on leadership role offering deep exposure to complex real estate acquisitions, high-stakes M&A, and cross-border operational agreements. As a trusted advisor to the executive team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the decisions that define our future.


WHY THIS ROLE IS UNIQUE


As General Counsel, you will:


  • Lead high-profile real estate acquisitions – Act on the buy-side for major institutional investors, overseeing all legal aspects of property acquisitions, fund structuring, and joint ventures.
  • Drive fund raising and M&A transactions – Support fundraisings, strategic acquisitions like InTheHood, and other corporate inorganic growth initiatives, ensuring full compliance across cross-border, onshore, and offshore structures.
  • Negotiate operator agreements and master leases – Structure agreements with property owners and capital partners to create value while protecting Dash’s operational and legal interests.
  • Shape legal strategy across the organization – Influence corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk frameworks in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

Strategic Legal Advisory


  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the executive team on corporate, commercial, real estate, and regulatory matters.
  • Lead corporate governance, compliance, and risk management initiatives.
  • Advise on complaints, regulatory engagement, and dispute resolution.


Contracts & Documentation


  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including NDAs, MOUs, Letters of Intent, client agreements, and corporate correspondence.
  • Support product governance processes, including standard documentation annual review cycles.
  • Maintain confidential legal correspondence and documentation in line with internal and external compliance requirements.


Legal Support & Process Improvement


  • Assist external or other  Legal Counsel with real estate & M&A transactional documents, ad-hoc matters, including corporate secretarial duties and internal legal projects.
  • Support legal process improvements across the organization, including matter tracking, documentation management, and reporting.
  • Conduct legal research and provide summaries and insights to support business decision-making.


Operational & Legal Process Leadership


  • Drive legal process improvements, including contract management, matter tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct legal research and provide actionable insights for business decisions.
  • Collaborate with external counsel on cross-border, high-value transactions.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Law degree; admission to practice law in Japan (Japanese Bar or equivalent) is preferred; advanced qualifications or foreign bar admission is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a law firm, financial institution, or professional services environment handling M&A and/or institutional real estate transactions, including onshore/offshore structures.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and legal drafting skills, particularly in corporate or financial legal matters.
  • Business-level Japanese is a plus and strongly preferred and business-level English is a must (written and spoken) to work seamlessly with internal teams, external counsel, and international investors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Solution-oriented, proactive, with a strong sense of ownership over complex legal issues.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and legal management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Administrative Scrivener or Judicial Scrivener qualifications are a plus.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Hands-on experience with operator agreements, master leases, and real estate acquisition agreements in Japan.
  • Exposure to institutional investors, cross-border transactions, and high-value deals is highly desirable.
  • Prior practice in Japan beyond licensure is strongly preferred, reflecting familiarity with local market practices and regulatory expectations.
