What we are looking for

A seasoned Sales Manager who is experienced and has a proven track record in building a business-to-business function within a company from the ground up. 

About the role

The B2B Sales Manager is responsible for generating and converting new leads, and for establishing strong relationships with businesses including SMEs that exist within the communities we serve. This role reports to the VP of Commercial.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and execute a B2B strategy, covering sales, marketing and customer support.
  • Show entrepreneurial spirit, building the function and department from the ground up.
  • Hire, train, lead and manage the B2B sales team.
  • Develop, implement and monitor team KPIs.
  • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services. 
  • Research and identify new ways of reaching existing markets.
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers.
  • Demonstrate success by growing the B2B sales pipeline and applying efforts to exceed sales targets.
  • Understand the different needs of business customers and be able to respond effectively.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the Company's products and services.
  • Foster and develop long-term and rewarding relationships with all customers.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers and draw up contracts, involving internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the Company’s service standards are consistently achieved at all times.
  • Stay informed about competing products and services.
  • Identify and drive promotional strategies and activities developed by the marketing department.
  • Continuously liaise with internal stakeholders to support driving customer success efforts.
  • Carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present findings to management and executives.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in sales, business relationship management, marketing or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in B2B sales including South African township-based SMEs.
  • Strong telecommunications or wireless network experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Self-starter, being able to flourish with minimal guidance and handle uncertainty.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Strategic thinking and being able to see the big picture.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated success growing sales pipelines and exceeding sales targets.

Other Requirements

  • Drivers License and own car.
  • Ability to work outside the office environment. 
  • Serve customers outside of core business hours, if required.
  • The ability to analyse sales figures and write reports.
