Position Overview

The role of Head of NHS (Energy) is to drive growth and develop strategic opportunities within the NHS sector. This mid to senior level role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in engineering, construction, or the health sector, and a proven track record of selling into the NHS.


Working closely with NHS stakeholders to provide tailored solutions in areas such as decarbonisation, heat networks, and other innovative initiatives that align with the NHS's sustainability goals. This role combines strategic thinking with hands on execution, requiring an individual who excels in both business development and client account management.


This role will require nationwide travel to meet with stakeholders, attend client meetings, and represent Cenergist at industry events and conferences.

Key Tasks

  • Research and identify potential NHS clients and projects aligned with Cenergist offerings (e.g., decarbonisation, heat networks)
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of proposals, presentations, and bids tailored to NHS requirements
  • Actively pursue new contracts to achieve the £10m sector deliverables target for FY26
  • Develop and sustain strong, trusted relationships with key NHS decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Act as the primary point of contact for NHS clients, addressing inquiries and ensuring satisfaction
  • Manage existing NHS client accounts, ensuring timely delivery of solutions and project milestones
  • Gather client feedback to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with client expectations
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and implement sector-specific sales strategies and business plans
  • Track and report on sales activities, pipelines, and performance against sector targets
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and technical teams to develop bespoke, cost-effective solutions
  • Ensure alignment between client needs and project delivery teams to meet contract requirements
  • Stay updated on NHS policies, sustainability goals, and funding opportunities, particularly in decarbonisation and heat networks
  • Provide insights on sector developments and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our expertise and build a strong market presence in the NHS sector

  • Achievement of FY26 Sector Deliverables: Progress toward securing £10m in

business within the NHS sector

  • Meeting or exceeding yearly sales and revenue goals
  • Number and value of new contracts won from NHS clients
  • Maintaining and growing relationships with key NHS clients
  • Number of new leads, tenders, or opportunities identified within the NHS sector
  • Ensuring all solutions meet client needs and align with internal delivery capabilities


Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

Demonstratable Experience

  • Proven experience in business development and account management within the healthcare sector, preferably with the NHS.
  • Strong understanding of the NHS structure, procurement processes, and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive business plans.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
