PASS is a test equipment, calibration and training Company based in Teesside. We currently have a vacancy for an IT support engineer based in our offices in Thornaby.

We currently have around 120 desktop users with associated servers including RDS servers for our remote sites. Our remote sites include Thornaby, Belfast, Glasgow, Leeds and Watford.

Working within the team of four in the IT / Development team you will be able to install, repair and configure computer workstations, servers and local area networks, as well as test and operate them, monitor their performances, upgrade, troubleshoot and diagnose any problems. From our offices in Thornaby you will be supporting users at our remote sites.

We do have additional remote server and Level 3 support from an external provider where required for advanced server and firewall issues.

Occasionally you will be required to visit other sites to upgrade, repair and troubleshoot any issues.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excellent technical knowledge, a proactive hands-on approach to problem solving, plus the ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.

Your duties will include:


  • Providing onsite support to our users in our head office in Thornaby.
  • Providing remote support to other sites via remote desktop and occasionally visiting other sites (maybe 3 times per year)
  • Assisting the development team in implementing new software throughout the Company.
  • Providing software support issues including diagnosis and rectification.
  • Installing and configuring the AVAYA telephone system. Full training will be given and we also have additional external manufacturer support.
  • Installing and configuring networks where required and diagnosing network issues.
  • Installing, operating and maintaining network services, routers, switches and other network devices.
  • Installing and maintaining other hardware such as barcode scanners, printers.
  • Ensuring that all patches and updates to workstations and servers are applied.
  • Maintaining and configuring servers and network hardware including software diagnosis on workstations, carrying out both hardware and software repairs as necessary. We also have the backup of external Level 3 server administrators.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:


  • Excellent hardware and software technical knowledge with proven IT industry experience ideally having worked in a multi-site role.
  • Software - Windows 7 and above, Windows Server, Exchange Server, Active Directory, networking.
  • Hardware - servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, switches, routers and firewalls.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work with professionalism and flexibility, able to work well under pressure.
  • Able to prioritise, multitask and manage own workload as well as participating as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence is essential, transport to other sites may be provided when required.



Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 per year depending upon experience
