SHORT DESCRIPTION

You will lead the engineering team that helps Betby clients connect with our platform and supports our commercial teams in managing those relationships, from the first API call through long-term retention.


Your work will cover every part of that relationship, including integration APIs and SDKs, an AI-powered onboarding platform, a CRM for commercial operations, and internal tools for sales, account management, and client success teams.


This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will be responsible for the architecture and engineering standards and will also contribute directly to the codebase rather than just overseeing the work. You will work closely with a product manager and a business analyst, lead two engineers, and collaborate with a QA team, working at the intersection of product, engineering, and commercial operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Leadership. Own the architectural direction across the team's products. Define coding standards, lead system design discussions, and conduct thorough code reviews.
  • Hands-on Engineering. Actively contribute to the codebase. This is a builder role.
  • API & SDK. Design, build, and maintain integration APIs used by client engineering teams. Contribute to the SDK roadmap and implementation.
  • AI-Powered Products. Lead the technical design of a new onboarding platform that leverages AI and integrates with multiple internal and external systems.
  • Commercial Tooling. Build and enhance internal tools for account management, client success, and support teams, including a CRM for commercial operations.
  • Mentorship. Support two engineers through hands-on guidance, structured feedback, and knowledge sharing.
  • Process Automation. Implement technical solutions that make onboarding and integration smoother and faster by turning the process gaps identified by product and operations into automated workflows.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a Lead capacity
  • Proven track record of working on developer-facing products: public APIs, integration tooling, or SDKs
  • Expert-level Python, with production experience using FastAPI
  • Deep understanding of RESTful API design: versioning, pagination, rate limiting, idempotency, and error handling
  • Experience with JWT and OAuth 2.0 for API authentication and authorization
  • Practical knowledge of webhook patterns and event-driven integration architectures
  • Hands-on experience with asynchronous communication using RabbitMQ and/or Kafka, including pub/sub patterns, reliable delivery, and consumer design
  • Working proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, enough to maintain and improve client-facing portals and internal dashboards
  • Comfortable with Docker and Kubernetes for managing deployment and sandbox environments
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB or Redis
  • Ability to write clear, developer-friendly technical documentation
  • Comfortable engaging directly with clients' engineering teams to understand integration needs and troubleshoot issues



NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience integrating LLM / AI tools into production applications
  • Experience designing and distributing public SDKs
  • Familiarity with other languages, such as Go, Java, or PHP, is helpful for supporting clients who use different tech stacks.
  • Experience with Documentation-as-Code approaches (OpenAPI / Swagger, or similar)
  • Prior developer relations or developer-facing technical experience
