About the Role


As an Independent End-Point Assessor, you will assess apprentices undertaking the Creative Industries Production Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard once they have successfully completed their training and entered Gateway.


Using your industry expertise, you will make fair, valid and independent assessment decisions against the published assessment and grading criteria, helping to ensure apprentices meet the professional standards expected across the creative industries sector.

What You'll Be Doing


You'll conduct independent End-Point Assessments in line with the apprenticeship standard and EPA plan, assessing apprentices against the published assessment and grading criteria and the associated knowledge, skills and behaviours.


Assessment activities include a Practical Assessment with Questions and a

Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence. You'll review portfolios and supporting evidence, make independent grading decisions, complete assessment documentation and maintain accurate assessment records within agreed timescales.


You'll also maintain your occupational competence, participate in induction, training and standardisation activities, and work collaboratively with AIM's Apprenticeship Team to ensure assessment decisions remain fair, reliable and consistent.


Essential Requirements


To be considered for this role, applicants must:


• Be independent and have no conflict of interest with apprentices, employers or training providers.

• Have substantial and relevant occupational experience within the creative industries sector.

• Have recent relevant experience of the occupation or sector at least equivalent to occupational Level 4, gained within the last two years, or be able to demonstrate substantial and significant experience within the occupation or sector.

• Have worked within the creative industries sector, or in training and developing creative industries teams, within the last three years.

• Have occupational competence within one or more of the following pathways: Live Event Technician, Creative Venue Technician or Screen Lighting Technician.

• Understand the apprenticeship occupational standard and End-Point Assessment plan.

• Hold, or be working towards, a recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA or CAVA.

• Have strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.

• Be confident using digital systems and assessment platforms.

• Have the right to work in the UK.

• Be able to travel to assessment locations across the UK where required.


Desirable Experience


Previous experience as an assessor, trainer, mentor or quality assurer would be advantageous, as would experience of apprenticeship delivery or End-Point Assessment.


Experience of working across multiple creative production environments and relevant assessor or quality assurance qualifications would also be beneficial.


Additional Requirements


Successful applicants will be expected to attend induction and standardisation activities before undertaking assessment activity and participate in annual standardisation activities, particularly when updates to the EPA are introduced.


Associates must maintain and evidence current occupational competence, comply with AIM's Internal and External Quality Assurance requirements, use language appropriate to the apprenticeship level and maintain accurate, professional and objective assessment documentation.

Additional Information


AIM will provide assessment guidance and assessment materials to support assessors in carrying out End-Point Assessment activities.


Assessments are conducted through a Practical Assessment with Questions and a Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence, allowing apprentices to demonstrate their technical knowledge, skills and occupational competence through real workplace practice.


Ongoing training and standardisation activities form part of the role to ensure consistency, reliability and quality of assessment decisions. All assessment methods may be recorded for moderation and quality assurance purposes.
