About the Role


As an Independent End-Point Assessor, you will assess apprentices undertaking the Broadcast & Media Systems Technical Operator apprenticeship standard once they have successfully completed their training and entered Gateway.


Using your industry expertise, you will make fair, valid and independent assessment decisions against the published assessment and grading criteria, helping to ensure apprentices meet the professional standards expected by the broadcast and media sector.

What You'll Be Doing


• Conducting independent End-Point Assessments in line with the apprenticeship standard and EPA plan.

• Assessing apprentices against the published assessment and grading criteria, and the associated knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs).

• Making and recording fair, accurate and evidence-based grading decisions.

• Completing assessment documentation, reports and assessment records within required timescales.

• Providing clear written rationale within assessment documentation to support assessment decisions.

• Maintaining up-to-date occupational competence and sector knowledge.

• Attending induction, training, validation, moderation and standardisation activities.

• Working collaboratively with AIM's EPA and quality teams to ensure consistency, compliance and quality.

• Ensuring all assessment activity complies with regulatory, internal quality assurance and external quality assurance requirements.

 

Essential Requirements


To be considered for this role, applicants must:


• Be independent and have no conflict of interest with apprentices, employers or training providers.

• Have substantial and relevant occupational experience within the Broadcast and Media Systems sector.

• Have recent relevant experience of the occupation or sector to at least occupational Level 5, gained within the last 3 years, or significant experience within the occupation or sector.

• Have worked within broadcast and media systems, or in training broadcast and media systems teams, within the last 3 years.


Be able to evidence current occupational competence and expertise in:


• Using industry-specific software tools and broadcast equipment.

• Managing media and file assets, ensuring the integrity and security of file-based content and protecting assets from cyber threats.

• Preparing and configuring technical assembly and set-up for broadcast and communications systems or networks.

• Fault finding and problem solving within broadcast and media environments.

• Monitoring and maintaining transmission and broadcast services in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or organisational targets.


• Understand the apprenticeship occupational standard and End-Point Assessment plan.

• Hold, or be working towards, a recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA or CAVA.

• Have strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.

• Be confident using digital systems and assessment platforms.

• Hold Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).

• Have the right to work in the UK.

• Be willing to travel where required.


Additional Requirements


Successful applicants will be required to:


• Attend induction and standardisation activities before conducting EPA activity.

• Participate in validation, moderation and standardisation activities at least twice per year, and whenever updates to the EPA are introduced.

• Maintain and evidence up-to-date occupational knowledge and expertise.

• Comply with all AIM, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) requirements.

• Use language and communication appropriate to the level of the apprenticeship.

• Maintain accurate, professional and objective assessment records and documentation.

• Undertake training in work-based assessment methods, including observation, questioning and verification procedures, where previous assessment or verification experience is not held.

AIM will provide assessment guidance, assessment materials and grading criteria to support assessors in carrying out End-Point Assessment activities.
