About the Role
As an Associate Internal Quality Assurer, you will support quality assurance activities across the Broadcast & Media Systems Technical Operator apprenticeship standard.
You will review assessment decisions, assessment records and assessor practice to ensure that End-Point Assessments are fair, valid, reliable and consistent. You will play a key role in supporting assessors, maintaining standards and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role offers flexibility, autonomy and the opportunity to remain connected to the broadcast and media industry while supporting the development of future professionals.
Please note: due to potential conflicts of interest, individuals cannot undertake both Associate Assessor and Associate IQA roles on this standard simultaneously.
What You'll Be Doing
• Conducting Internal Quality Assurance activities in line with the apprenticeship standard, EPA plan and AIM policies and procedures.
• Sampling assessment decisions and assessment activity using AIM's risk-based IQA approach.
• Reviewing assessment documentation, evidence and grading decisions.
• Providing clear, objective and evidence-based feedback to associate assessors.
• Completing IQA reports and documentation within agreed timescales.
• Supporting consistency, standardisation and continuous improvement across assessment activity.
• Contributing to training, standardisation and quality assurance activities.
• Working collaboratively with AIM's EPA and quality teams.
• Maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and impartiality throughout all activities.
• Ensuring compliance with internal and external quality assurance requirements.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must:
• Hold a recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA or CAVA.
• Hold, or be working towards, a recognised Internal Quality Assurance qualification, such as the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
• Have substantial and relevant occupational experience within the broadcast and media systems sector.
• Have recent relevant experience of the occupation or sector to at least occupational Level 5, gained within the last three years, or significant experience within the occupation or sector.
• Have worked within broadcast and media systems, or in training broadcast and media systems teams, within the last three years.
• Be able to evidence current occupational competence and expertise in:
- Using industry-specific software tools and broadcast equipment.
- Managing media and file assets, ensuring the integrity and security of file-based content.
- Preparing and configuring broadcast and communications systems or networks.
- Fault finding and problem solving within broadcast and media environments.
- Monitoring and maintaining broadcast transmission services in line with organisational requirements.
• Understand the apprenticeship occupational standard and End-Point Assessment plan.
• Maintain and evidence up-to-date occupational knowledge and expertise.
• Hold Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Be independent and free from conflicts of interest.
• Have excellent organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
• Be confident using digital systems and assessment platforms.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be willing to travel where required.
Desirable Experience
• Previous Internal Quality Assurance experience.
• Experience of End-Point Assessment.
• Experience of apprenticeship delivery.
• Experience supporting or mentoring assessors.
• Full UK driving licence.
Additional Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to:
• Attend induction and standardisation activities before undertaking IQA activities.
• Participate in validation, moderation and standardisation activities at least twice per year, and whenever updates to the EPA are introduced.
• Maintain and evidence up-to-date occupational knowledge and expertise.
• Comply with all AIM, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) requirements.
• Maintain accurate, professional and objective quality assurance records and documentation.
• Work professionally, maintaining confidentiality and managing conflicts of interest appropriately.
• Undertake continuing professional development relevant to both the occupational sector and quality assurance activities.

Additional Information
AIM will provide all quality assurance guidance, policies, sampling documentation and support materials required to undertake the role.
Ongoing moderation, standardisation and quality assurance activities form part of the role to ensure consistency, reliability and quality of assessment decisions.
