Reporting to the General Manager the main purpose of this role is to manage and provide Quality Engineering support for the Operations and Quality departments by ensuring that products and processes are maintained in line with business and customer requirements.

The Role  

This role encompasses the following responsibilities:  

  • Implementation and management of inspection and certification control plans 
  • Supporting the Project Management team with contract reviews 
  • PPAP and FAIRs 
  • In process production part approval using visual and dimensional inspection 
  • Final inspection of completed components or assemblies including signoff. 
  • Manufacturing support to the production areas with reference to quality issues 
  • Ensuring procedures are implemented or updated where appropriate. 
  • Measurement systems evaluation 
  • Actively support the business with QMS to ISO 9001:2015 certification 
  • Accomplishment of shop floor product sample and process audits to recognised schedule. 
  • Maintenance and management reporting of performance 
  • Managing all related non-conformance issues

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our growing team.   You will have experience of working with defence standards, with an in-depth knowledge of technical documentation including engineering drawings.  You will support relevant departments, maintain the QMS, carry out production audits, quality check produced products and assist with continuous improvement projects. You will have a passion for and be eager to learn new skills and seek development opportunities in the course of your employment.  


Key Competencies  

  • Educated to Diploma / Degree level (or equivalent) – preferably in an engineering environment. 
  • Previous work experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role, ideally in electronics- based product manufacturing environment 
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation including Engineering drawings 
  • Familiar with Defence Standards 
  • Familiar with electronic / electrical components and cabling 
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and/or as part of a team. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to compose clear and concise reports & documentation. 
  • Internal Quality auditing experience to ISO 9001:2015 
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines consistently. 
  • Experience of APQP 
  • Qualified and experienced quality auditor 
  • Six Sigma experience 
  • Experience of quality processes with the Defence industry 
  • Previous experience in or qualification to IPC-A-610/ IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a simple and concise manner.
