Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role will be integral to the successful manufacture of products such as antennas and sub-systems.


The Type of Person We Are Looking For

We are currently in a phase of substantial growth and are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Workshop Technician to join our existing team. In this role you will be responsible for machining a diverse range of precision components, primarily in aluminium and thermoplastics. 

 

Additionally, you will play a crucial part in the assembly of antenna components and bench fitting, ensuring that specifications are met.

 

The ideal candidate will come from a background in engineering or mechanical work and should be comfortable working with a variety of hand tools and machinery.

 

While prior experience in our specific industry is not required, applicants must demonstrate a strong aptitude for hands-on work and a willingness to learn new skills.

The Role

This role encompasses the following responsibilities:

 

·      Perform precision machining of components using manual mills and lathes, with a focus on aluminium and thermos plastics

·      Conduct assembly of antenna components with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring adherence to specifications

·      Bench fitting to achieve precise dimensions for seamless integration of components

·      Manufacture assembly and test fixtures to support the production process

·      Interpret and work from engineering drawings to meet design specifications

·      Utilise measurement tools to verify and maintain the accuracy of machined parts

Key Competencies and Experience

·      Proficient use of manual mills and lathes, preferably at the toolmaker level

·      Familiarity with band saws, linishers, grinders and other manual workshop equipment

·      Skill in using various measurement tools to ensure precision of machined components

·      Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately

·      Exemplary attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.


Qualifications

Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience in precision machining and assembly.


Useful Additional Expertise/Qualifications

The following are advantageous but not a requirement:

·      Ability to programme a CNC

·      Brazing/soldering ability
