Business Development – Analytical Sciences (Small Molecule, Biologics & Advanced Modalities)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-performing, hunter-style Business Development to build and scale APC’s Analytical Services business across Analytical Sciences (Small Molecule, Biologics & Advanced Modalities).
This is a pure new business role focused on:
- Generating pipeline
- Winning new clients
- Closing high-value analytical programs
You will target analytical needs across:
- Small molecule (release, stability, impurity, characterization)
- Biologics (protein characterization, comparability, method development, advanced analytics)
- This role is critical to expanding APC’s footprint in late-phase development, MSAT, and GMP-enabling analytical programs.

Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Generation (Primary Focus)
- Aggressively prospect and generate new analytical services opportunities
- Build and execute a targeted outreach strategy across pharma and biotech accounts
- Identify and convert opportunities in:
- Analytical development
- Method development & validation
- Stability and release testing
- Biologics characterization and comparability
- Develop a consistent flow of qualified opportunities aligned with bookings targets
2. Full Sales Cycle Ownership
- Own and drive the entire sales process—from cold outreach to close
- Lead scientific and commercial discussions with clients to define scope and value
- Develop and present compelling analytical solutions and proposals
- Maintain strong deal momentum and closing discipline
3. Territory & Pipeline Management
- Build and execute a high-impact territory plan
- Maintain 3–5x pipeline coverage relative to targets
- Manage all opportunities in Salesforce with clear next steps and forecasting discipline
- Drive sales velocity, conversion rates, and deal progression
4. Market Engagement & Positioning
- Position APC as a premium Analytical Services partner, differentiated from traditional CRO/CDMOs
- Leverage APC’s scientific expertise and digital capabilities (iAchieve) to create competitive advantage
- Build relationships with Director, VP, and SVP-level stakeholders across CMC, Analytical, and MSAT
- Represent APC at industry events, technical forums, and client workshops
- Identify emerging trends in analytical services and feed insights back into APC strategy
- Sell speed, flexibility, and scientific problem-solving capability over price
- Lead with technical insight and differentiated execution models
- Confidently navigate competitive situations and objection handling
5. Internal Collaboration (Enable to Win)
- Work closely with analytical, technical, and operational teams to shape winning proposals
- Translate client needs into clear technical scopes and value propositions
- Support rapid turnaround of proposals and ensure alignment to client expectations
Performance Expectations
- Achieve and exceed annual bookings targets
- Consistently generate new qualified opportunities
- Maintain high activity levels across outreach, meetings, and proposals
- Maintain strong pipeline coverage (3–5x) and healthy conversion rates
- Drive consistent deal progression and close velocity
What You Bring
- 5 years plus proven track record of winning new business in CRO/CDMO or pharma services environment with a particular focus on Analytical Services
- Strong experience in prospecting, pipeline generation, and closing deals
- Deep understanding of:
- Analytical development (small molecule and/or biologics)
- CMC workflows and regulatory expectations
- Experience managing a high-volume pipeline with strong conversion performance
- Ability to engage and influence senior scientific and technical stakeholders
- Strong commercial mindset with ability to sell value vs. price pressure
- Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable in a performance-driven environment
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline, with strong hands-on experience in analytical method development and problem-solving
- Science related MS, Ph.D. or MBA (with science BS)
- Experience selling process development, MSAT, or manufacturing support services
