Business Development – Digital & Data Platforms (CMC/R&D)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-performing, strategic business development to lead the commercialization of iAchieve’s AI-powered data and knowledge platform across pharma and biotech clients. The focus is to convert fragmented scientific data into structured knowledge, insights, and scalable digital products, enabling clients to improve speed, quality, and decision-making across CMC, MSAT, and R&D.
You will operate at the intersection of:
- Business Development (new revenue)
- Scientific/CMC understanding
- Digital strategy & AI solutions
- Enterprise partnership development (FTE / platform models)
This is not a traditional BD role — it is a solution-led, value-driven, and consultative leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drive Digital & AI Commercial Strategy (Primary Focus)
- Lead the positioning of iAchieve as a strategic data & knowledge platform (not a tool)
- Translate client challenges into data → insight → value narratives
- Shape enterprise digital transformation discussions across CMC and R&D
- Position data & knowledge as strategic assets (not by-products)
- Drive platform adoption and expansion
- Support transition to recurring revenue models
- Identify repeatable use cases → product modules
2. Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Originate and close new digital, data, and AI-driven opportunities
- Build pipeline across:
- Platform adoption across accounts
- Expansion revenue (% growth per account)
- Number of multi-year / enterprise deals
- Contribution to productization
- Convert SOW-based engagements into FTE / platform partnerships
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder deal cycles (scientific + IT + leadership)
3. Territory & Pipeline Management
- Build and execute a high-impact territory plan
- Maintain 3–5x pipeline coverage relative to targets
- Manage all opportunities in Salesforce with clear next steps and forecasting discipline
- Drive sales velocity, conversion rates, and deal progression
4. Market Engagement & Positioning
- Position APC as a premium Digital Solution Partner, differentiated from traditional CRO/CDMOs
- Leverage APC’s scientific expertise and digital capabilities (iAchieve) to create competitive advantage
- Build relationships with Director, VP, and SVP-level stakeholders across CMC, Analytical, and MSAT
- Represent APC at industry events, technical forums, and client workshops
- Identify emerging trends in Digital Strategy and feed insights back into APC strategy
- Translate scientific workflows into digital/data opportunities
- Ensure credibility in technical discussions and solution shaping
- Confidently navigate competitive situations and objection handling
5. Internal Collaboration (Enable to Win)
- Partner with:
- BD teams (pipeline & client access)
- Technical/CMC teams (solution depth)
- Digital/iAchieve teams (platform delivery)
- Marketing
- Enable consistent messaging and go-to-market execution
Performance Expectations
Commercial
- New digital / AI-driven bookings (€)
- Conversion of SOW → FTE / platform deals
- Pipeline creation in underpenetrated accounts
Strategic
- Number of enterprise-level digital engagements
- Expansion of iAchieve footprint across clients
- Contribution to productized offerings
Execution
- Quality of proposals (value-based, ROI-driven)
- Cross-functional alignment (BD + CMC + Digital)
- Client engagement depth (multi-level relationships)
What You Bring
- 5 years plus proven track record of winning new business in CRO/CDMO or pharma services environment with a particular focus on Digital Transformation
- Strong experience in prospecting, pipeline generation, and closing deals
- Deep understanding of:
- Digital transformation
- Data platforms / AI
- CMC / MSAT environments
- Experience managing a high-volume pipeline with strong conversion performance
- Translate science → data → business value and engage both scientists and executives
- Strong commercial mindset with ability to sell value vs. price pressure
- Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable in a performance-driven environment
Preferred:
- Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharma Sciences, Data Science, or related discipline, with strong experience in digital transformation
- Science related MS, Ph.D. or MBA (with science BS)
- Experience selling process development, MSAT, digital solution services
