The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-performing, hunter-style Business Development leader to build and scale APC’s small molecule business across the US East Coast.

 

This is a pure new business role focused on market creation and opportunity capture via pipeline creation, opportunity generation, and closing high-value deals. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, driving consistent commercial results in a competitive and fast-paced market.

Key Responsibilities

 

1.New Business Generation (Primary Focus)

  • Aggressively prospect and generate new business opportunities across the East Coast territory
  • Build and execute a high-volume outreach strategy across target pharma and biotech accounts
  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with revenue targets
  • Identify, engage, and convert new clients within small molecule development and manufacturing

 

2. Full Sales Cycle Ownership

  • Own and drive the entire sales process from prospecting through to close
  • Lead client engagements, define value propositions, and push opportunities forward with urgency
  • Develop compelling proposals aligned with client needs and APC capabilities
  • Consistently demonstrate strong closing discipline and accountability for results


3. Territory & Pipeline Management

  • Build and execute a strategic territory plan focused on high-value target accounts
  • Maintain 3–5x pipeline coverage relative to annual bookings targets
  • Actively manage opportunities in Salesforce with clear next steps, timelines, and ownership
  • Drive sales velocity, conversion rates, and forecast accuracy


4. Market Engagement & Positioning

  • Position APC as a premium process development partner, differentiated from traditional CRO/CDMOs
  • Leverage APC’s scientific expertise and digital capabilities (iAchieve) to create competitive advantage
  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers (Director, VP, SVP level) across target organizations
  • Represent APC at industry events, conferences, and targeted networking initiatives


5. Internal Collaboration (Enable to Win)

  • Partner with technical and operational teams to shape winning solutions and proposals
  • Provide real-time market feedback to refine service offerings and commercial strategy
  • Collaborate with marketing and demand generation to amplify pipeline creation efforts


Performance Expectations

  • Achieve and exceed monthly/annual bookings targets
  • Consistently generate new qualified opportunities 
  • Maintain high activity levels across outreach, meetings, and proposals
  • Maintain strong pipeline coverage (3–5x) and healthy conversion rates
  • Drive consistent deal progression and close velocity


What You Bring

  • 5 years plus proven track record of winning new business in CRO/CDMO or pharma services environment with a particular focus on small molecule development
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline generation, and closing deals
  • Experience managing a high-volume sales pipeline with strong conversion performance
  • Strong understanding of small molecule drug development and CMC processes
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders in complex scientific organizations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to sell value over price
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable operating in a performance-driven environment

 

 Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific or engineering area required. Science related MS, Ph.D. or MBA (with science BS)
  • Experience selling process development, MSAT, or manufacturing support services
