What we are looking for

The Vice President: People & Organisation serves as a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing the company's people, culture, and organisation strategies to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.


This role oversees Human Resources, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Legal, Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, Facilities and Office Management, ensuring that all business functions operate within a strong framework of ethical leadership, accountability and performance.


The CPO/VP is an executive level role and will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and Board on all people and governance-related matters, embedding a culture of integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement. The role oversees a team of 20 professionals and is growing. This team is there to serve the 400+ headcount today which will grow to 1,000 in the coming few years.


A high degree of attention to detail, strategic foresight, and integrity is essential to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all people and organisational processes.

What you will be doing

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a People & Organisation strategy aligned with the company’s long-term business goals and growth plans.
  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy, culture, and transformation initiatives.
  • Drive organisational design and workforce planning to ensure scalability and efficiency.
  • Oversee company-wide change management and organisational development programmes.

Human Resources & Talent Management

  • Lead all aspects of HR operations, including workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Design and implement talent acquisition strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent across all business units.
  • Champion a high-performance culture through effective succession planning, coaching, and employee engagement programmes.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and reward frameworks to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.

Learning & Development

  • Establish a robust Learning & Development (L&D) framework that supports continuous learning, leadership development, and career progression.
  • Implement training programmes focused on skills development, compliance, diversity and inclusion, and leadership capability.
  • Measure training effectiveness and ensure alignment with organisational goals and employee growth trajectories.
  • Oversee the Skills Development and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) submissions to the relevant SETA.
  • Ensure compliance with SETA requirements, BBBEE skills development targets, and skills levy administration.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance

  • Oversee corporate governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with King IV principles, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Lead risk management initiatives across the business, identifying and mitigating operational, legal, and compliance risks.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, data protection (POPIA), occupational health and safety (OHS), ICASA, and labour regulations.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to maintain transparency and accountability.

Legal & Policy Oversight

  • Provide strategic leadership of the legal function, ensuring all contracts, partnerships, and corporate activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Oversee contract drafting, negotiation, and review processes to protect the company’s legal and commercial interests.
  • Maintain and update company policies and procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.
  • Advise executive management on potential legal implications of strategic decisions.

Facilities & Office Management

  • Oversee the management of facilities, offices, and workspaces, ensuring they support productivity, safety, and organisational culture.
  • Develop and implement office policies, infrastructure standards, and workplace wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure business continuity planning and compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Leadership & Culture
  • Champion an organisational culture of integrity, collaboration, accountability, and inclusion.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to the People & Organisation team, developing future leaders and strengthening internal capabilities.
  • Foster strong communication channels between leadership and employees to ensure transparency and trust.

Organisational Performance & KPI Management

  • Lead the design and implementation of a company-wide performance management framework that aligns business objectives, departmental KPIs, and individual goals.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to establish annual organisational targets, performance scorecards, and evaluation criteria.
  • Monitor performance trends and ensure timely performance reviews, data accuracy, and reporting consistency.
  • Use data-driven insights to improve productivity, talent deployment, and overall company performance.
  • Champion a high-performance culture by linking results, recognition, and development.
  • Oversee executive performance reviews and ensure alignment with board and shareholder expectations.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail in all KPI documentation, dashboards, and performance audits.


Minimum requirements (qualifications, skills and experience, other)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience across HR, legal, compliance, or governance functions, including at least 5 years in an executive or VP-level role.
  • Proven experience in talent management, organisational design, learning and development, and strategic HR leadership.
  • Strong understanding of labour law, corporate governance (King IV), POPIA, OHS, and risk frameworks.
  • Experience in managing multi-site operations or large teams in dynamic, fast-growing environments.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
