We are looking for a highly analytical and proactive Data Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment.

The ideal candidate is not just a report builder, but a problem solver — someone who can take real-world business challenges, structure them using data, and deliver clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making.

You should be comfortable working with imperfect data, collaborating across multiple teams, and delivering insights quickly to support business operations and growth.

About the role

This role sits at the intersection of operations, growth, and decision-making within TooMuchWifi.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and improving reporting systems, supporting operational performance, and delivering insights across key business areas such as network operations, sales, collections, and customer experience.

The role focuses on answering three key questions:

  • What is happening?
  • Why is it happening?
  • What should we do next?

What you will be doing

  • Operational Reporting & Monitoring
  • Build and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards (e.g. Metabase, Google Sheets) across Operations, Network, Commercial, Call Centre, and Leadership
  • Ensure data accuracy, refresh reliability, and dashboard usability
  • Monitor key operational metrics and flag anomalies or risks
  • Analytics & Decision Support
  • Analyse performance across the customer lifecycle (lead → install → active → retained)
  • Track and report on key business metrics including ARPU, churn, collections rate, bad debt, and DSO
  • Identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities
  • Deliver concise insights that explain what happened, why it happened, and what to do next
  • Business & Growth Analysis
  • Support expansion and growth initiatives through data-driven analysis
  • Build structured views of communities including demand, serviceability, and performance trends
  • Assist in evaluating opportunities using cost, revenue potential, and operational feasibility
  • Process & Performance Improvement
  • Identify inefficiencies in operations and recommend improvements
  • Support process mapping and performance tracking across key workflows (e.g. lead → activation → collections)
  • Contribute to improving data structures, tracking, and reporting frameworks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, Network Operations, NOC, Customer Experience, Finance, and Marketing teams
  • Support business-critical initiatives with data insights
  • Translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Data Quality & Governance
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of key metrics and reporting
  • Maintain clear definitions and documentation for KPIs
  • Support data governance and compliance (including POPIA where applicable)

Minimum requirements (qualifications, skills and experience, other)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
  • 2–4 years experience in a Data Analyst or similar role

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (mandatory)
  • Strong SQL skills (mandatory)
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g. Metabase, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience with automation (e.g. Apps Script, Python) is advantageous

Core Competencies
