Description

The purpose of a day faith-based Christian camp counselor is to provide spiritual guidance, foster a safe environment, and ensure the safety and well-being of campers. Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and facilitating daily camp activities, guiding campers in their personal growth, and managing camper behaviors.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Supervise of group of 10+ day campers Monday through Friday.
  • Foster a positive and Christ filled camp environment where campers feel safe, supported, and encouraged to participate.
  • Supervise all aspects of the day including activities, meal time and the bus ride to camp.
  • Lead daily devotions for the day campers, participate in worship and answer Biblical questions in an age appropriate way.
  • Set up, break down, and lead recreational activities. Activities may include archery, games, fishing, canoeing and swimming.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in all staff training, in-services and meetings.
  • Report to Day Camp Director any camper issues as soon as possible.
  • Carry out camp health and safety procedures.
  • Actively engage in camp activities with campers.
  • Attend all mandatory staff gatherings, including FG Church and Friday night meetings.  
  • Other duties as assigned; these duties can and will include the cleaning of the facility at the end of each session and during the week.


Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must demonstrate a maturing faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; and confidently articulate that faith.
  • Must be presentable and personable, with a strongly developed servant heart and mind; ready always to put the needs of others ahead of their own.
  • Ability to create and foster positive relationships with guests and team members.
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills in front of large audiences for safety briefings, team building instruction, or debriefs with campers and guests.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to withstand the Texas heat and be comfortable working outdoors.
