Role & Responsibilities

Barrows is looking for a Strategist to join our dynamic team. Strategists are at the core of everything we do. They ground our most complex projects, turning research and data into actionable insights then translating how that comes to life across the commerce journey. Equally analytical and creative, they have a love for solving problems in new and exciting ways. They are logical, methodical and measured with their approach, always with a story rooted in insights. Did someone say story? On the flip side, our strategists are our hero storytellers- they’re passionate about the when why, bringing this to life through communications and big idea thinking. They have a passion for getting inside the mind of the shopper (whether online, in-store or just about anywhere else) to inform the strategies we bring to life. 


In addition to bringing a killer attitude and energy, this individual must be able to:


  • Exhibit a deep understanding of the American retail landscape inclusive of nationwide channel variation and top retailers in the marketplace
  • Possess engaging and effective communication skills to bring your strategy to life across our holistic client portfolio
  • Present a core foundation when it comes to the digital and shopper marketing, e- commerce and omni-channel integration as well as social media trends and technology
  • Bring an awareness and understanding of integrating BTL programs with ATL marketing initiatives
  • Lead our brands when it comes to shopper marketing strategy that aligns with our client’s goals, objectives and conversion KPIs
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, interpreting and distilling data to actionable insights with top, credible industry resources (Nielsen, PWC, Mintel, etc.)
  • Be a compelling, consistent storyteller and presenter commanding presence in a room (or Zoom) with senior clients, partner agencies and colleagues
  • Have excellent creative and copy writing skills with experience writing consumer-facing copy that’s focused on the sell
  • Be a team player for a tight knit, nimble force, working collaboratively to build strong partnerships with client service and creative teams

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in shopper marketing, strategy, planning and/or analytics
  • Agency/in-house experience, knowledge and know-how in retail/consumer marketing, research and operations preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail and shopper strategy, knowledge about retail channels including: grocery, convenience, liquor, on-premise
  • Experience coordinating multiple strategic campaigns and brands across internal teams, client teams and partner agencies
  • Toolkit and BTL experience preferred
  • Shopper marketing, path to purchase, and holistic 360-degree planning preferred
  • Advanced written, oral communication and presentations skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Anchors their behavior in humility, approaching everyone with a kind and respectful attitude
  • Someone who rises to a challenge and excels in ambiguity
  • A confident communicator who is comfortable around internal and external cross functional teams but also an empathetic collaborator who can engage and earn the trust of people at any level
  • Ability to work in the office 3 days a week.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $95,000*

*exact compensation will be determined based on individual experience
