Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a strategically minded and execution-driven Director of Business Development to manage and grow our existing pipeline of new business opportunities. This role is ideal for a strong relationship manager and project leader who excels at guiding complex opportunities from lead to close through cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and operational excellence.

Unlike traditional sales roles, this position is focused less on cold prospecting and more on advancing already-qualified opportunities, building trust with prospects, and ensuring the business development process is well-managed, insight-led, and aligned with the agency’s strengths.

Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Management: Together with the CGO, own and manage the business development pipeline, ensuring all active opportunities are strategically assessed, properly scoped, and advanced through key milestones.
  • Project Leadership: Act as the central lead on associated pitch initiatives, managing cross-functional teams including strategy, creative, and production to deliver best-in-class proposals and presentations.
  • Strategic Opportunity Framing: Translate prospect needs into compelling strategic narratives and tailored marketing solutions that align with agency capabilities and shopper marketing trends.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, strategy leads, and account teams to ensure alignment across business development efforts and ongoing client transitions.
  • Process Optimization: Build and refine internal tools and processes to ensure smooth workflow, documentation, and accountability throughout the business development lifecycle.
  • Market & Client Insight: Leverage market knowledge and shopper insights to identify whitespace opportunities within the pipeline and proactively guide conversations with prospects.
  • Relationship Building: Nurture relationships with warm leads, previous clients, and industry contacts to grow long-term opportunity value and brand trust.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in business development, client services, or strategic project management within a shopper marketing, advertising, or brand activation agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex business development initiatives from start to finish with precision, creativity, and leadership.
  • Deep understanding of the CPG and retail ecosystem, including key shopper trends and marketing strategies.
  • Strong project management capabilities and comfort working across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience crafting proposals, presentations, and strategic briefs.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and project management software (e.g., Asana, Monday.com).
  • Highly organized, proactive, and motivated by team success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • CPG experience
  • Experience in a shopper/commerce or creative agency
