Location: Hybrid (home worker with travel to locations if required)  


Contract type: Permanent


Hours of work: 40 hours p/w (Mon - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm)


Salary: £30,000.00 - £35,000.00 per annum


Purpose of the role

We are looking for a creative and data-driven Learning Content Developer to join our growing L&D team. In this role, you will transform detailed training requirements, technical information and subject-matter expertise into clear, engaging and effective learning materials.


You will design and develop engaging content across multiple formats including; eLearning, instructional video, screen recordings, presentations, guides, job aids and assessments. Working with subject matter experts and business stakeholders, the role creates accessible, accurate and practical learning experiences that support competence, compliance and effective performance across the Clearsprings Group.


The postholder also maintains and improves learning content so that it remains current, consistent and effective. 


Key Relationships:

Internal: HR and Learning & Development colleagues; subject matter experts; operational, compliance, quality, health and safety, IT and communications teams; managers and colleagues across the Clearsprings Group.


External: learning technology and content suppliers, where required.


 Scope and Decision Making:

Works with a high degree of autonomy within agreed learning briefs, brand standards, policies and project timescales, while obtaining subject matter and business approval for content before release.


Makes day-to-day instructional design, format, structure and production decisions and can recommend improvements or alternative learning approaches where these better meet the identified need.


The role has no routine people-management or budget authority, unless separately delegated, and may have appropriate access to authoring tools, multimedia software, shared content repositories and the Learning Management System.


Material involving legal, regulatory, contractual or policy interpretation must be validated by the relevant content owner before publication

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities are outcome focused and are delivered in line with Clearsprings values, policies and expected professional standards. 


Core Responsibilities:

  • Translate approved training requirements and complex source material into structured learning objectives, learning journeys and engaging training products.
  • Design and produce high-quality digital and blended learning materials, including eLearning, video, screen demonstrations, presentations, facilitator resources, learner guides, job aids and assessments.
  • Develop scripts, storyboards, prototypes, graphics and multimedia elements, selecting the learning format that best supports the audience and required outcome.
  • Work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to validate accuracy, manage review and approval, and convert specialist knowledge into clear learner-friendly content. 
  • Prepare, test, publish and maintain LMS-ready content, ensuring appropriate accessibility, version control, quality assurance and record keeping.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve learning content using stakeholder feedback, learner feedback, completion information, assessment outcomes and changes to business requirements. 

 

Procedures:

  • Follow approved learning-development, information security, data protection, brand, accessibility and content-governance procedures when designing and publishing learning materials. 
  • Maintain accurate source files, approval records, version control and review dates, and ensure superseded material is removed or clearly controlled. 
  • Test digital learning and multimedia outputs before release and escalate technical, accuracy or compliance issues appropriately. 


Connect and Collaborate:

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners.
  • Share information appropriately to support joined up working and service delivery.
  • Partner with subject matter experts, managers and colleagues to understand learning needs and secure timely input, review and approval. 
  • Explain instructional design choices clearly, challenge content constructively where it is overly complex or unsuitable for learning and agree practical solutions.
  • Share reusable approaches, templates and good practice to support consistent learning across the Group. 
  • Working closely with the wider L&D team to align academy courses with overarching company goals and skill gaps.


Responsive:

  • Manage multiple content-development briefs and changing priorities, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, dependencies and risks.
  • Respond promptly to corrections, policy changes and urgent learning requirements, prioritising updates according to learner, operational and compliance risk.
  • Take ownership of content issues from identification through to resolution and republication. 


Talented:

  • Proficiency with software like Articulate Storyline 360, Rise, Adobe Captivate or Elucidate.
  • Experience publishing and troubleshooting packages within a LMS such as Kallidus.
  • Apply strong instructional design, writing, visual communication and multimedia production skills to create high-quality learning experiences.
  • Simplify complex information without losing essential meaning or accuracy and design suitable opportunities for practice, reinforcement and assessment. 
  • Keep knowledge of digital learning methods, authoring tools, multimedia techniques, accessibility and emerging learning technologies current.
