Key Responsibilities:

1. Fraud Investigation & Case Management:

  • Conduct end-to-end investigations into suspected fraud, KYC violations, identity misuse, customer onboarding irregularities and other suspicious activities relating to device financing.
  • Investigate high-risk, delinquent and potentially fraudulent financed-device accounts to establish the underlying circumstances and determine potential fraud exposure.
  • Develop investigation plans, gather relevant evidence, conduct interviews and verification activities, analyse findings and document conclusions.
  • Establish relationships between registered customers, actual device users, dealerships, sales agents and other relevant parties.
  • Assess the nature, extent and impact of identified fraud and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential investigation case files, evidence records and supporting documentation.

2. Customer Verification & Field Investigations:

  • Conduct customer verification and field investigations to establish customer identity, ownership, possession and actual use of financed devices.
  • Verify customer information, residential or business details, employment or other relevant information where required as part of investigations.
  • Conduct physical device tracing and verification in cases involving suspected fraud, non-payment, identity misuse or disputed ownership.
  • Identify inconsistencies between customer records, actual users, financing information and field findings.
  • Obtain and document relevant statements, photographs, records and other evidence in accordance with investigative procedures.

3. Fraud Analytics & Risk Assessment:

  • Analyse FMS alerts, customer profiles, financing records, repayment behaviour, KYC documentation and other available data to identify suspicious patterns.
  • Identify identity discrepancies, unusual account behaviour, potential document manipulation and attempts to circumvent device-financing controls.
  • Review customer and account information to identify links and patterns indicative of organised or recurring fraud.
  • Conduct risk assessments on suspicious accounts, dealerships and sales agents and determine appropriate escalation thresholds.
  • Support the identification and analysis of emerging fraud trends and typologies.

4. KYC & Dealership Compliance Investigations:

  • Conduct targeted dealership compliance investigations and mystery-shopping exercises to assess adherence to KYC and customer onboarding requirements.
  • Identify KYC breaches, including ID mismatches, inadequate customer verification, missing onboarding evidence and incomplete documentation.
  • Investigate cases involving third-party customer onboarding, proxy applications, suspicious customer details and potential collusion between customers, agents and dealerships.
  • Assess dealership and sales-agent adherence to established customer due-diligence and device-issuance procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective action, enhanced monitoring, suspension or further investigation where material control breaches are identified.

5. Evidence Gathering & Forensic Review:

  • Collect, preserve and analyse investigative evidence required to support fraud cases.
  • Extract and review CCTV footage to establish events, identify persons involved and corroborate investigative findings.
  • Review documentation, system records, communications, customer information and other available evidence to establish facts.
  • Ensure investigative evidence is properly documented and traceable to support internal decision-making and potential recovery or enforcement action.
  • Escalate cases requiring specialised forensic examination or further legal assessment.

6. Investigation Reporting & Recommendations:

  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports detailing allegations, methodology, evidence reviewed, findings, risk assessment and conclusions.
  • Provide clear, objective and evidence-based recommendations to management and relevant control functions.
  • Recommend appropriate actions, including customer re-verification, enhanced monitoring, account restrictions, dealership suspension, forensic review, recovery action or further escalation.
  • Present significant investigation findings to relevant stakeholders and management when required.
  • Ensure investigation reports are completed accurately, objectively and within established timelines.

7. Fraud Prevention & Control Improvement:

  • Identify recurring fraud typologies, control gaps and weaknesses across the device-financing lifecycle.
  • Provide actionable intelligence and recommendations to strengthen KYC, customer due diligence, onboarding, device issuance and fraud-prevention controls.
  • Support the development and enhancement of fraud-prevention measures based on investigation findings and emerging risk trends.
