About the Role

BCCOHP is seeking a permanent, full-time Manager, Professional Advisors to join our Professional Practice team. This position will report to the Director, Professional Practice. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of professional advisors who work strategically across the organization providing innovative oral health professional and regulatory expertise, support and advice to all regulatory and operational functions including standards and guidance development and engagement and communications where professional expertise is required.

Essential Duties

Regulatory 

  • Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate responses by expert advisors to stakeholder enquiries, including those of patients, the public and registrants.
  • Oversee the department’s team of professional advisors.
  • Support the Director, Professional Practice in ensuring that all BCCOHP’s regulatory policies allow for processes that are proportionate, consistent, and fair, take account of the statutory objectives, the regulator’s standards and the relevant case law and prioritize patient and service user safety.
  • Support the Director, Professional Practice in ensuring that BCCOHP has an effective process for development and revision of standards and guidance, taking into account stakeholders’ views and experiences, external events, developments in provincial, national, and international regulation, and best practices and learning from other areas of its work.
  • Work with the regulatory function Directors and Managers on development of processes and policies requiring further integration post amalgamation.
  • Provide professional and regulatory advice to various BCCOHP areas to further develop processes and programs.


Team Management and Leadership

  • Contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making for BCCOHP and its professional team.
  • Provide leadership, management, mentorship, and supervision of the professional advisor team.
  • Ensure each member of the professional advisor staff team has a clear understanding of their role, accountability, authority, and responsibilities.
  • Ensure each member of the professional advisor staff team is provided with performance reviews and planning.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a regulatory environment or oral health profession. 
  • Knowledge or background in regulation and/or government policy. 
  • Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Office suite and research databases. 
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, both internal and external; motivates and encourages others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, compassionate but confident with the ability to engage in difficult conversations with tact and clarity.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Meticulous with excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. 
  • Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, adjust, and remain flexible. 
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure. 
  • Ability to problem solve and identify alternate approaches or solutions to issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with personnel and/or sensitive materials.
  • Self-directed and motivated, with the ability to set and meet goals independently.

Work Arrangement

Work Hours

BCCOHP's regular hours of business are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This is a full-time permanent position, requiring 35 hours per week (7 hours per day).


Flexibility

BCCOHP offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement depending on the role and operational needs. The number of days required to be in office for this position is dependent on operational needs and workload.


We also offer core work hours between 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. The successful candidate may adjust their work day as long as they are working within the set core work hours, and depending on operational needs.

Total Compensation & Perks

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive compensation and benefits package. The annual salary range for this position is $89,025 to $118,700 The salary offered will be determined based on factors such as experience relative to the requirements of the role.
