Kitchen Lead

Description

Responsible for cooking, leading kitchen shifts, and providing meals on time for guests, including special diet requests. Works as a team leader in meal preparation and serving, cleaning, and sanitizing the kitchen. Reports to the Food Service Director.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Oversees the kitchen staff during an assigned shift to serve the group.
  • Leads the charge in cooking and preparing meals for large volumes of guests according to schedule.
  • Be prepared to serve vegetarian, gluten-free diets, and any other special diets as needed.
  • Accountable for the meal quality, customer service, team leadership, and making sure meals are served on time to all the guests.
  • Ensure that all food stations, drink stations, and salad bars are refilled in a timely manner.
  • Help unload and properly store food items from vendor deliveries.
  • Clean and sanitize all dishes, utensils, and food prep areas.
  • Dispose of trash, wipe down tables, and reset the dining hall after group departure.
  • Actively contribute towards and maintain a positive, healthy work environment that reflects our Christian values.
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests.
  • Report to Manager, and/or Director in the food service department.

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate a maturing faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and confidently articulate that faith.
  • Must be a highly relational individual with an ability to foster positive relationships with guests and team members.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, professional, and teachable.
  • Must be willing to obtain or provide a Food Handler's certificate.
  • Must be able to follow recipes and written cooking instructions, including quantity amounts and meal schedules.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Must be willing to work longer hours during our busy seasons as needed.
  • One year of food service experience or culinary skills commensurate.
