We’re proud to announce we’re running our Summer Project Brum Programme again this year. This is a great opportunity to gain some hands on, paid work experience in The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) which is a community benefit society and through cooperative working we aim to develop healthy, happy communities where people are living active and connected lives.

You will be working either as part of The Active Wellbeing Society’s service delivery team based in communities across the City of Birmingham or in the office learning marketing and online service skills. You will be working closely with the Project Leads to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality programmes for the local community, through the use of community development practices and partnership working.

We are looking for passionate trainees to join us this summer and support the business with community delivery programmes. This is a well-rounded opportunity that will encourage growth & learning via a range of methods. We promise to train, support and guide you through the 6 week placement and offer accredited training to compliment the day to day work you will be involved with.

This is a 6 week placement that is paid at the Real Living Wage. In line with policy, you will be required to undergo a DBS check prior to starting the placement. Anticipated start date will be late July.

How will you develop

We want you to get the most out of your internship and will provide you with enough training so you have the knowledge and skills to succeed in your role. Your first week will involve you learning all about TAWS, our processes and how we work in addition to some training elements. You’ll then put your knowledge in to practice with the support of a buddy who will be on hand to answer any questions along the way. Your manager will also provide you with regular feedback and support to make sure you’re getting the most out of your programme.

About you

We’re looking for individuals who share our values and our passion for putting people first. If you like building relationships with new people and have good attention to detail, this could be the programme for you.

You'll need to have a positive, friendly attitude and excellent communication skills. We’re looking for people who have the confidence to engage with a diverse variety of people, who are customer focused and have the ability to be accurate and deal with our customer’s transactions.

We want you to get the most out of the opportunity and as it’s only on for 6 weeks it’s important you don’t have any more than a couple of days holiday during this time, with none of this during the first couple of weeks as these are the key training days.

TAWS key values are as follows and we will be looking for these in all applications.

Open Mind        Inspiring, Enabling, Confident

Open Heart      Ethical, Reliable, Trusted, Simple, Easy, Clear ,Helpful, Thoughtful, Kind

Open Will          Aspirational, Brave, Agile

Please consider these values when compiling your compulsory covering letter.

The selection process will involve a review of your CV and covering letter addressing both how you will ensure the above values are met and why you want to be considered for the post. After shortlisting candidates will be invited to a compulsory interview day.

Application details

Please submit a Cover Letter and CV addressing the experience you have had relevant to the role but as a minimum please address how you meet the following criteria which will be weighted highly in the first sift of shortlisting:
