Overview

As a Senior Manager you will operate as a key part of the leadership team within the line of service as well as across the practice. You will provide quality client services, meeting business objectives, lead business development, lead the line of service and the teams in their development, and be proactively involved with across the practice in these areas.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide comprehensive tax advisory services to clients on Thai tax regulations, including corporate income tax, personal income tax, value-added tax (VAT), transfer pricing, specific business tax, and stamp duty.
  • Advise multinational enterprises (MNEs) on the application of Thailand’s tax laws to cross-border transactions and foreign investment in Thailand.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in Thai tax legislation and their impact on clients' business operations.
  • Advise clients on the application and benefits of Thailand’s double tax treaties with other jurisdictions, ensuring efficient tax structuring for cross-border transactions and investments.
  • Assist clients in managing tax exposures under double tax treaties and guide them in obtaining tax relief or credits in accordance with these agreements.
  • Analyze the impact of double tax treaties in conjunction with Thai tax laws, especially in relation to permanent establishment (PE) rules.
  • Provide advice on inbound and outbound investments. Including tax-efficient repatriation strategies, such as dividend distribution, interest payments, and royalties, considering both Thai tax law and international tax treaties.
  • Lead restructuring projects related to mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, ensuring compliance with Thai tax law and minimizing tax risks.
  • Provide legal advice on corporate structuring, foreign business licenses (FBL), BOI (Board of Investment) applications, and compliance with Thai investment promotion laws.
  • Basic understanding of international tax rules, such as transfer pricing guidelines, and Thai tax law, ensuring compliance with both.
  • Basic understanding of OECD’s pillar 2 initiatives and support clients in preparing for the implementation of Pillar 2, including assessing the impact on their effective rates and compliances processes.
  • Coordinate with other teams to mitigate tax risks.
  • Cross-services collaboration to ensure holistic approach on client engagements.
  • Efficient and effective delivery of engagement on time and on budget, and in compliance with quality and risk standards including ISQC1 and firm policies and procedures, in accordance with exceptional client service

It is expected you would have a highly competent understanding / knowledge of the following technical areas:

  • Thai Revenue Code, including corporate income tax, personal income tax, specific business tax, value added tax and stamp duty 
  • Thailand’s Customs duty system 
  • Civil and Commercial Code
  • Foreign Business Act
  • Investment Promotion Act
  • Thai Labor Protection Act
  • Corporate structuring and FBL, BOI, company registration
  • Thailand’s tax and non-tax incentive regimes, including BOI and IBC
  • Thailand’s income tax treaties 
  • OECD international tax guidelines including BEPS
  • Assisting clients with tax audits by the Thai Revenue Department 
  • Tax structuring for M&A transactions and internal reorganizations, including tax due diligence

  • Lead business development activities in the field of international tax advisory, focusing on growing the firm’s client base in areas like cross-border tax planning and tax structuring.
  • Engage with both local and international clients to identify opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiencies through strategic advisory.
  • Actively participate in networking events, industry forums, and thought leadership activities.
  • Work effectively as part of a team as a leader, and active development of knowledge sharing and thought leadership
  • Motivate, encourage and actively bring the best out of the team and each member
  • Building and maintaining a network internally and externally, and staying aware of industry trends, and effective communication of industry related matters
  • Lead opportunities for improvement and development of solutions internally and externally, including digital solutions
  • Recruitment, and implementation of firm coaching and training strategy for the line of service
  • Development of thought leadership and participation in networking events
  • Commercial negotiation, opportunity identification, opportunity conversion and increasing business acumen. 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • 10-12 years’ experience in relevant field
  • University degree
  • Post graduate qualification
  • Advanced English language skills
