Job Description Summary

We are looking for a full time Human Resources Advisor to provide day-to-day HR advice and independently manage routine to moderately complex employee relations matters.


Acting as a trusted partner to managers, you will provide practical guidance on people issues, support the consistent application of company policies and UK employment law, and help deliver key HR processes across the business.


You will work closely with the Senior HR Administrator, Senior HR Advisor and Head of HR to ensure a high-quality HR service is provided throughout the employee lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

As a Human Resources Advisor, your responsibilities will include:


  • Acting as a first point of contact for managers and employees requiring HR advice and guidance.
  • Providing clear, practical and timely support on people matters within the scope of the role.
  • Managing day-to-day sickness absence processes, including absence monitoring, trigger management, occupational health referrals and return-to-work support.
  • Leading routine employee relations meetings, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence review meetings.
  • Advising managers on the consistent application of company policies, procedures and UK employment legislation.
  • Escalating complex, high-risk, long-term absence, disability-related or precedent-setting matters to senior HR colleagues.
  • Supporting more complex employee relations cases, organisational change programmes and sensitive people matters.
  • Maintaining accurate employee relations records, case files, trackers and management information.
  • Monitoring HR case deadlines and highlighting risks or required actions.
  • Working closely with the Senior HR Administrator to ensure employee lifecycle processes are completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Supporting recruitment and selection activities, including role scoping, interviews and candidate management.
  • Supporting onboarding activities and the successful completion of probationary periods.
  • Advising managers on performance management processes, objectives and routine capability concerns.
  • Maintaining records relating to employee eligibility for the UK Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Supporting the review, implementation and communication of HR policies, procedures and employee handbook updates.
  • Contributing to HR projects including employee engagement, wellbeing, retention, diversity and inclusion, pay benchmarking and process improvement initiatives.
  • Producing HR reports and analysing people data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Preparing employee relations documentation including invitations, outcome letters, case summaries and meeting notes.
  • Delivering manager guidance and training on HR processes and people management practices.
  • Building effective relationships with managers, employees, occupational health providers, external advisers and global HR colleagues.
  • Managing competing priorities and supporting the wider HR team as required.

Required Education & Experience

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or be working towards achieving it.
  • A minimum of three years' generalist HR experience.
  • Practical experience managing employee relations casework and advising managers.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing a varied workload and maintaining accurate, confidential records.
  • Strong administrative and organisational capabilities.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, medical device or similarly regulated environment would be advantageous.
