Job Description Summary

We are looking for an experienced Production Team Leader to lead, motivate and coordinate production activities within our Tissue Processing team working a 2.30pm to 10.30pm shift.


This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing shift resources, supporting employee development and ensuring production activities are delivered in line with quality, regulatory and operational requirements.


Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Materials Management and other support functions to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining compliance with Medical Device and GMP requirements.


The successful candidate will champion high standards of quality, safety and continuous improvement while creating a positive and high-performing team culture.

Key Responsiblities

  • Leading, developing and supporting a team of Production Technicians to achieve safety, quality and production objectives.
  • Coaching, mentoring and training employees in approved manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Creating a positive team environment through effective leadership, communication and employee engagement.
  • Monitoring daily production activities and coordinating resources to ensure production schedules are achieved.
  • Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Warehouse and R&D teams to resolve operational challenges.
  • Managing production activities in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing team performance and implementing actions to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Monitoring production KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate ERP system records relating to work in progress and production inventory.
  • Supporting the introduction of new products and processes alongside routine manufacturing activities.
  • Working with Materials Management to support effective production planning and scheduling.
  • Contributing to departmental and organisational continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Supporting budget adherence and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and compliant working environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Quality Management System requirements and training programmes.
  • Producing weekly and monthly production performance information as required.
  • Supporting investigations, problem-solving activities and corrective actions where required.
  • Complying with and promoting all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

  • A minimum of 3 years experience leading or supervising teams within a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within the medical device, pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry.
  • Experience managing employee performance, training and development activities.
  • Experience working closely with Quality and Manufacturing teams to maintain compliance and operational performance.
  • Experience within a medical device manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.

Working Environment

This position is based in Leeds in a cleanroom environment.


The successful candidate must be able to:


  • Work in a controlled cleanroom environment while wearing full cleanroom gowning and PPE.
  • Follow strict contamination control, quality, and safety procedures.
  • Operate effectively in a highly regulated medical device manufacturing setting.
