Description

We are looking for an experienced, proactive and confident HR Advisor to join our team at DOS on a six-month fixed-term contract.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll provide practical HR advice and support to managers and employees across our UK operations, taking ownership of a broad range of employee relations matters while contributing to key people initiatives.

Working closely with the HR Administrator and reporting into the HR Business Partner, you'll play an important role in ensuring consistent, effective people management across the business. You'll need to be comfortable managing your own caseload, balancing competing priorities and building strong relationships with managers at all levels.

This opportunity would suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys a fast-paced, operational environment and can make an immediate impact.

We provide equal opportunities for all applicants and employees, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or any other protected characteristic. We also offer reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to ensure that every candidate can showcase their skills and abilities to their fullest potential.

Responsibilities

  • Managing employee relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, performance management and flexible working requests.
  • Supporting managers with short- and long-term absence management, welfare meetings, return-to-work processes and occupational health referrals.
  • Providing clear, commercially focused HR advice to managers and employees on day-to-day people matters.
  • Reviewing and updating HR policies, procedures and supporting documentation to reflect legislation and best practice.
  • Developing and delivering practical HR training and coaching to improve management capability.
  • Supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of employee engagement survey action plans.
  • Working closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee changes and resolve pay-related queries.
  • Maintaining accurate employee relations records, case documentation and HR information.
  • Supporting improvements to HR processes and identifying opportunities for greater consistency and efficiency.
  • Assisting with the implementation of employment law changes and wider HR projects.

Essential

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor role, ideally within a multi-site or operational business
  • Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS guidelines
  • Demonstrable experience managing employee relations cases independently
  • Experience supporting managers with complex absence management and occupational health processes
  • Confidence providing advice and constructively challenging managers where appropriate
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise a varied workload and work with minimal supervision
  • A pragmatic, approachable and solutions-focused working style

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a logistics, distribution, transport or similar working environment
  • Experience developing and delivering management training
  • Experience supporting and employee engagement initiatives and HR improvement projects
  • Experience using HR information systems and analysing people data
