Overview of Role

Work with the CPO to deliver best value procurement and outstanding service for AF members across the Fuel portfolio and maximise business opportunities. To actively contribute to the fuel business objectives and targets with a focus on building strong supply partnerships bringing the highest levels of service and competitive pricing for both AF Society and Affinity fuels (a predominantly B2C heating oil business that is part of AF).


Duties and Responsibilities

·        Deliver a seamless end-to-end member journey from procurement, on-boarding of new members and through management of the supply of fuel and related product lines

·        To proactively identify new business opportunities for AF, and work towards increasing member commitment and volumes

·        Using your extensive knowledge of the fuel industry, proactively work towards future aggressive volume growth budgets to include building new relationships and further enhancing existing supplier relationships

·        Prepare and deliver both AF Society and Affinity Fuels annual business plan and budget forecasting (in conjunction with Affinity Fuels), reporting on performance through weekly reports

·        Review, monitor and update both AF Society and Affinity Fuels forecast against plan as required, providing necessary supporting commentary

·        Progress new business opportunities for product area including new markets and alternative supply chains

·        Proactively identify new business and opportunities

·        Ensure knowledge base of the product areas, maintains an understanding of any future technical and commercial aspects of relevant markets and any impact these may have on the business

·        Regularly review the Affinity Domestic Fuels Syndicates (action groups) rebates and agreements and proposing improvements as necessary

·        Monitor relevant markets

·        Identify appropriate times to procure additional products and services as the industry requires and communicate this information to the Senior Fuels Specialist

·        Effectively communicate and implement procurement strategies deemed suitable for product area

·        Work closely with other Procurement Managers to identify cross selling opportunities and sharing of expertise

·        Attend Shows/Events as required by the role

·        To retain current business by reviewing, visiting and continuously building member relationships which will include regular reviews with all high potential/spending members

·        Identify opportunities and the closing of Fixed Price contracts

·        Communicate agreements to Senior Fuels Specialist for communication to wider team

·        Ensure AF terms with suppliers remains current, relevant and value-add


Supplier Relationship Management

·        Supplier management and strategic procurement of all suppliers (including all contracted suppliers irrelevant of volume)

·        Responsibility for supplier segmentation and scorecards

·        Ensure all current suppliers are working within any relevant industry standards


Member Management

·        Work closely with membership taking appropriate steps to understand needs and identify solutions to any industry challenges

·        Build solid relationships with membership ensuring consistency of service and approach

·        Act as an added value interface between member and supplier to build commitment

·        Seek member feedback to evaluate performance and enable improvements


Fuel Team Management

·        Ultimate accountability of the fuel team to develop and maintain the team morale, reviewing team and operational needs regularly and identifying training needs

·   Direct management responsibility for the Senior Fuel Specialist, monitoring their performance against agreed KPI’s in line with delivering wider company KPI’s as appropriate. Highlighting and dealing with performance management issues (eg PDR’s / disciplinaries) in line with company policy and guidelines

·        Work with the Senior Fuel Specialist to ensure regular team meetings and 1:1’s are conducted with the fuel team

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
