About Improve

Improve International was established in 1998 by a group of veterinary surgeons from across the UK. We run Continuous Professional Development training from veterinary professionals to help develop the skills and knowledge required in practice. 


Our programmes utilise a combination of review lectures, case-based discussion and, where applicable, hands-on practical sessions. Within Improve we also have the function of ‘The International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS)’. This function is dedicated to providing veterinary surgeons, nurses and technicians with high quality, achievable qualifications that are recognised internationally. We are an international organisation with offices in the UK and Portugal. 


Job Purpose


To manage examinations in order to support and providing optimal customer experience, allowing candidates progressing towards ISVPS awards. Implementation of examinations including supporting team members (for example, covering in their absence) and manage processes relating to examinations and assessments. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of an excellent examination experience for all customers sitting exams
  • Plan and prepare for examinations to ensure high quality and on time delivery
  • Support candidates during their assessment journey and issue examination results.
  • Prepare examination papers while ensuring examination confidentiality and integrity is maintained
  • Ensure that all candidates fully understand assessment requirements and policies or procedures to examinations
  • Support academic team on candidate eligibility for awards
  • Process assessments for examiners
  • Examination invigilation as required
  • Receive and manage candidate appeals and Tier 2 complaints together with Academic team
  • Invite and maintain relationships with examiners
  • Collaborate with training providers and partners to implement any changes in relation to specified awards.
  • Analyse costs (and seek cost-effective options, where possible)
  • Manage translation of examination papers and liaise with specialist examiners to ensure suitable questions for each exam, providing local examiner feedback to Academic team.
  • Liaise and process with finance team examination delivery related invoices
  • Attend meetings with line manager, team, and partner organisations, for example, to communicate projects and progress.
  • Update relevant databases
  • Provide feedback and activity reports
  • Liaise with marketing and IT to ensure website content and literature is kept up to date

Education/Experience

  • Academic qualification or experience in assessment or education desirable, but not essentials
  • Good English Proficiency
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Competent IT skills, use of Microsoft Office software and ability to learn new systems
  • Strong senior administrative skills and experience is essential
  • Excellent communicator (written and spoken)
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated & autonomous with effective time management abilities
  • Customer/client focus
  • Qualification in, or experience of the veterinary field are valued, but not essential
  • Good interpersonal skills (team worker, able to build and develop effective working relationships)
  • Discretion when necessary
  • Comfortable working remotely
  • Sympathetic to organisation’s unique culture and values
  • Flexibility within a rapidly evolving business 
  • The role is office based in Swindon (some hybrid working available)
