About Improve

Improve International was established in 1998 by a group of veterinary surgeons from across the UK. We run Continuous Professional Development training from veterinary professionals to help develop the skills and knowledge required in practice. 

Our programmes utilise a combination of review lectures, case-based discussion and, where applicable, hands-on practical sessions. Within Improve we also have the function of ‘The International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS)’. This function is dedicated to providing veterinary surgeons, nurses and technicians with high quality, achievable qualifications that are recognised internationally. We are an international organisation with offices in the UK and Portugal.

An amazing opportunity to join a fast-growing veterinary education company as Head of Marketing Operations, taking the lead in driving marketing planning, insights and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities


Reporting into the Marketing Director, you will lead the team responsible for driving new and repeat business marketing activity, supporting local country markets with marketing planning and execution across both paid and unpaid channels.


Essential to success in this role is using data and trends to inform decision making along with testing and learning to ensure continual improvements. You will work hand-in-hand with the global digital and data team and channel specialists to make commercially sound decisions, consistently assessing marketing performance to drive efficiencies and effectiveness.


An in-depth knowledge of our customers, courses and certifications is essential, with an understanding of how to maximise global marketing opportunities alongside taking into account local market needs.


Success in this role will require the development of effective working relationships with senior leaders across different brands and markets. You will be able to clearly communicate ideas and strategies, both written and spoken – as well clearly reporting and tracking progress of initiatives.


  • Work with the Marketing Director to deliver the global marketing strategy
  • Lead a team of marketers, responsible for marketing operations, across different countries and brands
  • Work closely with sales and operations in each market to align on priorities and understand local market objectives/goals
  • Plan, build and execute multi-channel inbound demand generation campaigns maximizing marketing and sales content opportunities
  • Support the Marketing Director with monthly board reporting including progress vs. strategy
  • Coach and support local country and brand marketers to ensure profitable marketing initiatives
  • Own the marketing operations budget, working with the marketing team to track spend and ensure we remain within budget
  • Champion CRM, and ensure HubSpot set up to provide business insight for better decision making and more personalized, segmented communications
  • Lead by example, coaching and mentoring the team to be successful within their roles  


Experience/Education

Commercial: Highly commercial individual with detailed knowledge of B2C markets, driving high revenue growth via all channels. Proven experience of embedding and leading commercial plans across different markets

Budgets: Ability to manage multiple marketing budgets. Experience of delivering creative ways of maximising the budget rather than asking for increased budget to hit growth targets.


Collaboration: An individual who can work collaboratively alongside different stakeholders, understanding their priorities and building positive relationships


  • Fluent written and verbal English (mandatory)
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail and proven experience in working in fast paced dynamic environments
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, proactive attitude who is solution focused


Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing
  • Experience in the veterinary or education industries preferred
  • Proven experience with the following platforms: Google Analytics, Meta Business Manager, Google Ads, WordPress, HubSpot and Asana (or a similar project management tool)
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Focused on driving marketing performance and ROI. Used to managing budgets, hitting targets and managing CPAs
  • Extremely data driven and high attention to detail
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams, especially sales and commercial functions
  • Track record in creating and executing successful and measurable integrated communication and marketing programmes
  • Brand champion, who consistently follows brand guidelines and encourages others to do the same


Benefits


Annual Leave Entitlement: 23 days plus public holidays, plus additional service dates after 3 years one additional holiday, and after 10 year one additional holiday, to a maximum of 25.


Weekly Hours: 40 


Location: Central city location (Porto) near public transportation. Office based role but hybrid working available - usually 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.
