Description
The New Space
The New Space is a newly constructed 100 seat recital space in the Gradel Quadrangles, a building for New College in Mansfield Road.
Context: The New Space is precisely that; it is in the early development stage of a distinctive profile within context of Oxford’s venues. The Concert Administrator will play a key role in continuing to establish The New Space. They will be in charge of the daily running of the venue and working closely with the Music Fellows of the College. The role will be varied, ranging from venue administration responsibilities to providing day-time box office cover and meeting and greeting/chaperoning visitors, suppliers, artists and promoters. The post holder will interact with key internal and external stakeholders, including internal departments for Development, Outreach, and Music. External stakeholders will include suppliers, agency staff, prospective clients and visitors.
The Chapel
New College has a large Chapel in which a number of daytime and evening concerts take place, in addition to the daily services sung by the Choir of New College and regular lunchtime recital series.
Context: Concerts sung by the Choir of New College are managed by the Choir Administrator, and the weekly lunchtime recitals are managed by the organisers (New College Music Society, the Assistant Organist, New Chamber Opera). The Concert Administrator will play a key role in administering all other concerts that take place in the Chapel. The postholder will be in charge of the venue as it relates to those concerts and will work closely with the Chapel Administrator and Chapel Manager in their delivery. The post holder will interact with key internal and external stakeholders, including internal departments for Development, Outreach, and Music. External stakeholders will include suppliers, agency staff, prospective clients and visitors.
