• Advise the Company on legal, regulatory, governance and commercial matters.

• Ensure compliance with applicable financial services and consumer credit laws and regulations, including the National Credit Act (NCA), National Credit Regulations, National Credit Regulator (NCR) requirements, Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and other relevant legislation.

• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise management on their impact on the business.

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, partnerships, financing arrangements and other legal documentation.

• Provide legal advice on corporate governance, Board matters, statutory requirements and corporate records.

• Advise on AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, consumer protection, employment law and other regulatory matters.

• Manage and oversee litigation, disputes, regulatory investigations and external legal counsel.

• Support the development and review of Company policies, governance frameworks, contracts and legal standards.

• Provide legal advice on new products, business initiatives and strategic projects.

• Identify and escalate material legal, regulatory and governance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation.

• Maintain effective relationships with regulators, external counsel and key internal stakeholders.

• Promote legal awareness, ethical conduct, sound governance and compliance across the organization.

• Support Board administration and ensure statutory filings.

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.

• Admission as an attorney in South Africa is strongly preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years' relevant legal experience, preferably within consumer credit, lending, banking or another regulated financial services environment. As well as corporate and commercial law experience.

• Strong knowledge and practical understanding of South African consumer credit and financial services regulatory requirements, particularly the National Credit Act (NCA), National Credit Regulations, NCR requirements and applicable consumer protection legislation.

• Strong commercial awareness with a proactive, business-partnering approach.

• High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
