Main Purpose

·        Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the multiskilled engineer will join a maintenance team currently ongoing a drive to transform the maintenance department into a high performing and effective function, fit for a business of this size and one that is capable of continuing in line with the ongoing growth of the business Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation and asset availability and other production equipment across site.

The maintenance team at DN are currently embarking on implementing a reliability program that will gradually shift from a reactive to proactive inclusive maintenance culture.

 


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

  • To carry out maintenance tasks issued/planned via CMMS system or as instructed by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure that all maintenance works are conducted in full compliance with all Health, Safety, Food Safety, Environment including site permits and procedures.
  • High focus on safety & quality of the work completed by self and the team and ensuring that the work orders are completed in CMMS with appropriate feedback for Maintenance team for future work and closed in a professional manner.

 

  • Effective communication with production and Operators when coordinating and completing work including handover back to operations ensuring safe completion of ‘lock out tag out’ and permit closure.
  • To be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and quickly take on new tasks as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Use of tools and equipment are available to provide the Maintenance engineer is fully trained, experienced and qualified to do so. Training will be provided as required.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering team when requesting spare parts during reactive breakdown and support gathering technical details of parts if required.
  • With experience and guidance from Maintenance Manager and colleagues understand when to repair and when to replace assets/sub assets to respect the Maintenance Budget.
  • Maintain the Engineering Workshop in a clean and tidy manner.

Person Specification


·        Making decisions about when to replace and when to repair parts.

·        The requirement to react quickly to frequently changing engineering priorities.

·        Ensuring the safety self and of all colleagues in our busy working environment.

·        To ensure all jobs are completed to a high standard.

·         To ensure all jobs are completed to a high standard even under reactive breakdown situation with production time pressure.

·        Ability to stay calm under pressure and make intelligent decisions based on data rather than emotion.

·        Staying focused on learning new maintenance principles as maintenance team shift from reactive to proactive maintenance following DN Reliability program methodologies.

·        Supporting the maintenance team when required by working additional hours for planned and unplanned works.

·        Occasional out of hours contacts with team member who may need advice on problem solving


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential;

·        Time Served multi skilled Engineer (Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent) with background in manufacturing.

·        Have extensive maintenance experience working in a continuous process environment.

·        Attention to detail in work execution and accurate completion.

·        Demonstrate a good understanding and appreciation for Health, Safety Food Safety & Environmental policies & procedures.

·        Experienced working with Permits to Work (training will be provided for DN permit system) and following safe isolation procedures ‘lock out - tag out’ etc. 

·        Physically fit and able to work

·        Have proven experience with problem solving.

·        Self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative.


Desirable;

  • FLT Licence (training can be provided)
  • MEWP Licence (Training can be provided)
  • Experienced with using CMMS system would be an advantage but (training will be provided)
  • Trained in Laser alignment an advantage but not essential (training can be provided).
  • Willing to take on any training that may be required
