We achieve our aims and target our growth and expansion plans through strategic business units in the group, including a full turnkey engineering business, product distribution, hardware and software research and development and SAAS analytics reporting and estate portfolio management platform business. TBT are based in a friendly office in Leigh, Lancashire but our team has grown into global customer locations, and we intend for this to continue as we set ambitious growth targets for the group. 

The Role

The role of Business Development Manager will take ownership for the full sales cycle for their areas of the business. You will be required to build and maintain professional relationships, provide sales expertise at bid and tender processes with a mix of local authority, housing association and business customers. The role will focus on customers in the Housing Associations and Local Authority through the Innovative Housing Programme. In addition to delivering the sales process, you will be a significant part of the growth plans for TBT.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and target new business opportunities within our target market, particularly those within the Housing Association and Local Authority.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to generate leads, cultivate relationships and close deals.
  • Negotiate contract terms and agreements from opening leads to close.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to develop targeted campaigns and promotional materials for use in person, on social media channels and websites.


Client Management

  • Create, build and maintain client relationships with key project stakeholders.
  • Understand client requirements and tailor solutions to meet their specific needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support both promptly and professionally.
  • Attend customer meetings that can be either F2F or online, representing the company in a professional manner.


Product Knowledge

  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
  • Utilise market research to refine sales strategies and product offerings.
  • Keep up to date with and understand the changes within the business and in the technology market by liaising with our technical team.


Sales Presentations and Demonstrations

  • Attend and participate in external events such as sales meetings, events, conferences and trade shows.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals and pitches to prospective clients.
  • Provide comprehensive information to client enquiries and concerns, liaising with the technical teams where needed.
  • Prepare and distribute internal and external communications (in line with ISO standards) as needed.


Sales Reporting and Forecasting

  • Regularly maintain and update an accurate record of sales activities, leads and opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics, track progress against targets and provide regular reports to the management team.

Package Details

Location: Northwest but with Nationwide Travel


Reporting: Chief Revenue Officer


Core Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 09:00am - 17:30pm


Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum


Pension: 3% Company contribution after 3 months of employment


Holiday Allowance: 25 days per year from 1st Jan - 31st Dec (pro-rata for part-time)
