We achieve our aims and target our growth and expansion plans through strategic business units in the group, including a full turnkey engineering business, product distribution, hardware and software research and development and SAAS analytics reporting and estate portfolio management platform business. TBT are based in a friendly office in Leigh, Lancashire but our team has grown into global customer locations, and we intend for this to continue as we set ambitious growth targets for the group. 

The Role

As a key member of our Tyrrell Systems Team, our Estimator will report directly into the Sales Team for Tyrrell Systems. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotes for Building Management Systems, assessing client requirements and collaborating across technical and commercial teams to ensure bid success. You will need to be comfortable and confident travelling to client sites to carry out initial engineering survey and define tailored BMS solutions.  

Key responsibilities

Business development through customer quotation delivery 

  • Design and create proposals for Smart Buildings projects for Tyrrell Systems, working in collaboration with both Engineering and Sales teams. 
  • Produce clear, high quality works estimates, with detailed costs, using high attention to detail. 
  • Conduct regular market research to understand industry trends, customer needs and our competitive landscape.  
  • Schedule and manage your own diary to include effective use of your time whilst visiting customers, attending networking events or conferences or trade shows. 
  • Maintain estiamtion documentation, revision histories and bid records.  

Client Management 

  • Create, build, and maintain client relationships with key project stakeholders including but not limited to consultants, building owners, facilities managers and contractors.  
  • Understand client requirements and tailor solutions and quotes to meet their specific needs.  
  • Provide excellent customer service and support both promptly and professionally.  
  • Attend customer meetings that can be either F2F or online, representing the company in professional manner.  

Product Knowledge 

  • Keep up to date with and understand the changes within the business, engineering as an industry and in the technology market.  
  • Be able to effectively communicate the features and benefits of our products to clients. 

Customer Presentations and Demonstrations 

  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to clients.  
  • Confidently conduct product demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of our BMS technology.  
  • Provide comprehensive information to client enquiries and concerns, liaising with the technical and engineering teams where needed.  
  • Prepare and distribute internal and external communications as needed.  
  • Attend and participate in external events such as meetings, events, conferences and trade shows.   
  • Support the People department in delivering an overview of Systems to New Starters as part of the Induction Process.  

Reporting and Forecasting 

  • Regularly maintain and update an accurate record of works in accordance with sales activities, leads and opportunities.  
  • Generate regular reports and forecasts, based on client work delivered. 
  • Collaborate with the engineering and sales team to achieve and exceed collective KPIs as well as personal KPIs.  


Skills and Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Enginering degree or equivalent. 
  • Strong understanding of BMS technology, IoT solutions, and smart building concepts.  
  • Proven track record of success within the BMS, IoT or smart buildings industry.  
  • Strong experience of providing detailed tenders and proposals for BMS projects. 
  • Ability to convey features and benefits of hardware and software in response to customer queries.  
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.  
  • Ability to organise your own diary.  
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the technology industry and our part within it.  
  • Ability to travel within the UK

Package Details

Location: Head Office in Leigh, Lancashire


Reporting: Sales Manager for Tyrrell Systems


Core Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 09:30am - 17:30pm


Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum


Pension: 3% Company contribution after 3 months of employment


Holiday Allowance: 25 days per year from 1st Jan - 31st Dec (pro-rata for part-time)
