Engineering Intern

Role Purpose

To support our team on active offshore cable projects. You will work at the intersection of AI-assisted tooling, prompt engineering, and marine/offshore cable engineering analysis. This is a hands-on role with real engineering responsibility from day one.


This position is open to students on an apprenticeship (alternance) or internship contract in accordance with French legislation.


This placement will be for a duration of six months.


Key Areas of Responsibility

AI & Prompt Engineering Support

  • Design, test, and iterate prompts for the AI / LLM tools used by the team; document findings and maintain prompt libraries.
  • Document and maintain best practices for AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Support the integration of AI-assisted analysis into existing engineering processes.

Cable Installation Procedure Writing

  • Support equipment selection and definition.
  • Assist with the drafting of the Task Plan.

Enshore Engineering Tools Development

  • Cable loading analysis.
  • Cable storage and packing space calculation.
  • Identify and propose additional analytical tools to add value to Enshore operations.

General

  • Ensure personal compliance with all HSEQS requirements, company policies, processes and procedures.
  • In all phases of operations, due consideration shall be given to the safety and occupational health of self and personnel, the environment and company assets. Line Managers are to ensure that all work is performed in conformance with HSEQS requirements set out by company and client and applicable statutory regulations.
  • In accordance with the structure and governance of the Company, the position holder is to inform their Line Manager of any matters of importance regarding department or the performance of the Company.


Key Tasks

  • Complete all tasks as assigned by the Project Engineer and/or project team.
  • Complete specific objectives as directed by the Company during the placement.
  • Keep up to date learning logs of all tasks achieved within the Company.

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role

Essential Qualifications or Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s-level Engineering programme (Bac+4 / Bac+5) in Mechanical, Civil, Marine Engineering or a related discipline, eligible for an apprenticeship or internship contract.
  • Comfortable with mathematical modelling and engineering calculations.
  • Strong interest in AI tools, LLMs, and prompt engineering.
  • Self-motivated, rigorous, and able to manage assigned tasks independently.
  • Working to fluent English (written and spoken); French is an asset.


Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience

  • Prior exposure to the offshore, subsea, or maritime sector.
  • Knowledge of catenary mechanics or cable lay / mooring systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, AutoCAD, or similar engineering calculation tools.
  • Familiarity with AI / LLM APIs and prompt design methodologies.


Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role

  • Familiar with Microsoft Packages.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, using problem solving skills and initiative to provide a customer focused support service.
  • Comfortable with mathematical modelling and engineering calculations.
  • Interest in AI tools, LLMs, and prompt engineering.
  • Proactive, rigorous, and able to work independently.


Salary and Working Hours

€12.31 per hour based a on a 35 hour working week.
