Project Scheduler-Solar Construction

Ecoplexus Inc. (www.ecoplexus.com) is a leading renewables developer, owner, and operator with end-to-end execution capabilities, including all phases of development, financing, EPC, O&M, and asset management. The company focuses on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects in the 75-400 MW range in the U.S. We’ve successfully developed 90 projects representing over $1 Billion in project value in the US from greenfield site selection to commercial operation. Ecoplexus is supported by KKR and affiliated investors.

Position Summary

Ecoplexus is looking for an experienced Utility-Scale PV Solar Project Scheduler to develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate integrated project schedules for large-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar, collector substations, utility switchyards/switching stations, transmission/interconnection facilities, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

This role partners with project management, engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, vendors, and utility stakeholders to create schedules from early development and permitting through procurement, construction, and completion.

The successful candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to active construction sites and project meetings.

Responsibilities

Integrated Project Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain logic-driven, Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules integrating permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, energization, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Integrate owner, EPC, subcontractor, vendor, utility, and permitting schedules into coordinated project plans.
  • Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), activity coding, calendars, milestones, constraints, and logic.
  • Maintain baseline and current schedules; update actual starts/finishes, remaining durations, forecast dates, and schedule narrative.
  • Identify and communicate critical and near-critical paths, milestone risk, schedule variance, and required recovery actions.
  • Develop integrated excel files with activity production rates, resources, and sequence logic.
  • Perform what-if and recovery analyses for changes in sequencing, manpower, production rates, procurement dates, work fronts, outages, and utility constraints.

Develop detailed schedules that reflect practical field sequencing and production. Typical scope includes:

  • Engineering design packages, procurement schedules, geotechnical work, environmental studies, permits, utility approvals, and interconnection deliverables.
  • Site clearing and grubbing; erosion control; grading; roads; drainage; fencing, racking and module installation, MV and DC infrastructure, testing and commissioning.
  • Schedule collector substations, utility substations, switchyards/switching stations, and transmission/interconnection work.
  • Coordinate substation and switchyard milestones with PV readiness, utility requirements, long-lead equipment, and planned energization dates.
  • Integrate BESS engineering, permitting, procurement, commissioning requirements with the project master schedule and utility interconnection milestones.
  • Identify and track long-lead equipment and procurement activities that may drive the critical path.
  • Prepare concise, management-level schedule information suitable for project managers, construction managers, clients, utilities, lenders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate critical-path and near-critical-path analysis; milestone status and forecast completion dates with baseline-versus-current schedule variance; delayed or at-risk activities; float and trend analysis.

Required Software Competency

  • Microsoft Project
  • Advanced working proficiency is required, including WBS development, activity relationships, calendars, constraints, milestones, baselines, critical-path and float analysis, resource assignments, schedule updating, XML/import-export, Excel integration, and schedule reporting. The candidate must be able to independently build and manage complete CPM schedules.
  • Strong proficiency is required for construction quantity and production-rate calculations, manpower analysis, schedule input/output tables, dashboards, and schedule data import/export.

Preferred Software Competency

  • Oracle Primavera P6
  • Experience with P6 interchange with Microsoft Project and Excel

Experience & Qualifications

  • Approximately 5+ years of project scheduling, planning, project controls, or construction planning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated scheduling experience on utility-scale renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, EPC, or heavy-construction projects.
  • Direct exposure to utility-scale PV solar, collector substations, switchyards/switching stations, MV collection, transmission/interconnection, and/or BESS strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing integrated schedules from early permitting and engineering through procurement, construction, energization, commissioning, and COD.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience with large projects in the approximate 50 MW to 500+ MW range is desirable.
  • Technical & Professional Competencies
  • Strong understanding of CPM scheduling and schedule logic.
  • Practical knowledge of PV field construction sequencing and electrical infrastructure interfaces.
  • Ability to understand civil and electrical design drawings.
  • Ability to translate scope, quantities, crew sizes, production rates, available work fronts, and constraints into realistic activity durations.
  • Ability to identify schedule risk early and challenge unrealistic logic, sequencing, or productivity assumptions.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while coordinating effectively with geographically dispersed teams.

Work Environment & Travel

This is a remote position with routine coordination through virtual project meetings, schedule reviews, and collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project-management teams.

Infrequent travel to project construction sites may be required to verify field progress, review sequencing and work fronts, validate remaining durations and productivity assumptions, participate in schedule workshops, support recovery planning, and assist around major energization or commissioning milestones.
