Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager and Chief Executive this position is responsible for the financial operations of the Club including the preparation and presentation of all financial reports to the General Manager and Business Unit Managers, Finance Committee and Board of Directors, the annual audit, budgets (operating, golf tournament and CAPEX), cash flow forecasts, payroll, statistical reporting for multiple business units and all aspects of membership billings and related correspondence.


The Finance Manager is also responsible for the ongoing management of the Club management system, online room and dining reservation system and point of sale system (POS). This will also include upgrades and ongoing development of the system along with training of the Accounting, Food &Beverage, Golf and Front Desk team.


The Finance Manager assists the General Manager and other management team members with ad hoc projects. 



Job Responsibilities

  • Monthly reporting to the Finance Committee on departmental financial results
  • Provides training, development and supervision to the Finance team
  • Leads multiple software implementation and conversion projects
  • Manages and analyzes the financial aspects of all capital projects, preparing detailed budgets and forecasts
  • Oversees the budgeting process for all major golf tournaments and Food & Beverage functions/events
  • Manages the membership database, including monthly billing process, handling of inquiries and the preparation of detailed statistics for the Finance, Golf and Membership Committees
  • Reviews and follow ups on overdue accounts
  • Prepares the annual budget and all forecasts
  • Supervises front desk accounting related work (night audit, deposits, cancellations, rooms billing and member payments)
  • Reviews bi-weekly and monthly payroll, monitoring departmental hours and following up on all queries with departmental managers
  • Oversees monthly inventory counts for all departments
  • Performs cost margin analyses and reviews
  • Acts as the liaison with IT and telephone system consultants as required
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA or Chartered Accountant) with a minimum of five years’ post – qualification experience (hospitality business preferred)
  • Good management skills; a team player with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of, and proficiency in using, the Microsoft office suite of products
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of NorthStar accounting software and Great Plains would be an asset
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multi-task and work to deadlines, willingness and availability to work overtime as required
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, self-manage, and work effectively in a small team environment
