Summary

The Short Order Cook is responsible for preparing fast and simple food for our kitchen located in the middle of our golf course (known as Halfway House) to satisfy multiple orders for our members and guests.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistently customer-focused approach with strong attention to detail, recognizing that exceptional members and guest service is paramount at a private members' club.
  • Accept and prepare food orders to specifications, managing orders to ensure all items are finished and served at the same time.
  • Maintain brand cuisine and consistently deliver the standards as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Maintain a collaborative, team-focused approach, working supportively with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues to deliver seamless service.
  • Control waste with good stock rotation, ordering and temperature control.
  • Ensure that the kitchen, dining/restaurant area and guest bathrooms are always clean, tidy and pristinely hygienic, checking and maintaining them throughout the day.
  • Place all garbage at the main entrance each evening for scheduled collection, leaving the area clean and secure.
  • Securely maintain a cash float and submit daily to reception.
  • Conduct Halfway House ordering and monthly stock taking for food and beverage
  • Assist in the job training of new staff members
  • Ensure that lights, electricity, gas and water are not used unnecessarily.
  • Ensure that keys are handed in nightly and alarms are set every evening
  • Assist the Executive Chef in the organization and control of kitchen operations
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A passion for cooking and a positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively with members and guests.
  • Previous cooking, kitchen, restaurant, or food-service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and portion control.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of short-order items such as breakfast foods, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and grill items.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to assist with general kitchen cleaning and organization.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry kitchen supplies as required.
  • Food-handler or food-safety certification is an asset.
