Graduate Design Engineer
SUMMARY: The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing custom manufacturing equipment and tooling for medical device production. This role involves developing robust, automated mechanical systems in collaboration with process and controls engineers. The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will also compile completed mechanical bills of materials (BOMs) and detailed engineering drawings to support accurate project quotations and successful system implementation. They will play a supporting role at build and debug stage by proactively keeping the project on schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design robust, cost-effective manufacturing equipment and tooling in collaboration with cross functional engineers, prepare mechanical BOMs and detailed drawings to support accurate project quotations.
Support the build team by generating build packs, and ensuring project build is accurate and efficien
Supporting Role at debug stage by proactively addressing any potential issues that arise by providing information and recommendations on a timely fashion to minimize projects impacts
Keep abreast of latest developments in industrial automation technology and implement innovative solutions to improve plant wide operations & reduce costs.
Deliver automated solutions on budget and on time.
Monitor and manage project budgets for mechanical design projects.
Liaise with vendors to procure custom components for automation projects.
Present 3D models and design concepts to internal team and when required to customers.
Identify and specify critical spare parts required for mechanical builds.
Lead and design process improvement projects from concept to implementation
Evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance needs of designs by researching specifications, technical manuals, and relevant data.
Familiarize yourself with a variety of processes to allow you to work across a number of product lines.
Conform to the requirements of the quality and environmental management system.
Additional ad hoc duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience in a medical device manufacturing engineering role is desirable.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (L7 or L8) or similar discipline
Knowledge of medical device validation protocols and associated documentation
Knowledge of SolidWorks is required for this role
Strong process engineering background
Strong team player, with the ability to work on own initiative.
Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
Good mechanical attitude and knowledge.
Ability to drive projects to completion.
Project Management training is advantageous.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong proficiency in statistical analysis techniques to investigate and solve problems and improve quality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well in a team
