Who we are

Kene Partners are award-winning R&D funding advisors who believe in client service excellence delivered through a blend of talent and technology. Kene Partners is a certified B Corp, member of the Chartered Institute for Taxation and a Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024.

The government previously provided £7.6bn of support to the most innovative companies in the UK in the tax year 2021 to 2022 and announced plans to increase the support available to £39.8bn between 2022 and 2025. With this level of support available to companies, Kene Partners wants to continue to facilitate supporting innovative companies year on year.

At Kene Partners, our vision is to empower innovative businesses in the UK to continue to grow and thrive. We want to maximise business owners’ ability to keep pushing boundaries and reinvesting in the futures of their businesses.

This is an ambitious goal and achieving it requires an equally ambitious team. As such we’re looking for exceptional people excited by the prospect of building something that matters to join the team.

The Role

Day-to-Day, you will be:

· Undertaking the firm’s internal technical training program in order to gain a solid understanding of R&D Tax legislation

· Understanding the R&D eligibility criteria and applying these concepts across a wide range of sectors.

· Assist with guiding clients through the enquiry process.

· Analyse HMRC enquiry letters and assist with drafting responses with reference to relevant case-law and R&D Tax legislation.

· Organise and participate in enquiry workshops and propose response strategies.

· Draft and peer review enquiry responses.

· Analyse financial information and prepare responses to HMRC’s financial questions.

· Research relevant legislation/case law for particular enquiries.

· Support the team in review of technical reports and delivering training to the wider team.

· Keep up to date on current/future R&D legislation.

What we’re looking for:

You will have:

· At least 1-2 years of commercial experience – a prior knowledge of the R&D incentives and/or related innovation funding from outside the sector is desirable but not essential.

· Graduated with a 2:1, 1st or an equivalent qualification in your degree with demonstrable experience in report- or essay-writing.

· Experience of working in a collaborative environment that thrives on sharing ideas and feedback

· The ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely in both written and verbal form.

· A natural problem-solving mindset: the ability to think critically and conduct your own research around a given topic

· Exceptional time, client, and project management skills.

· A genuine interest and curiosity in Software, Science, Technology & Innovation.

· The capabilities to deliver innovative solutions to complex challenges.

· An interest in your own personal development.

· The ability to actively listen to others and ensure that they are understood.

· The flexibility to take on change, shifting tasks and priorities when circumstances dictate (hint: this happens a lot in a fast-paced consultancy).
