THE ROLE


Reporting to the Team Lead, the Senior Linguist/Team Coordinator will be a key player in the translation workflow to ensure the highest quality standards and company processes. The ideal candidate is used to dealing with CAT tools, has an excellent attention detail and is fluent in multiple languages. They also have experience in people management roles and are used to interact with different audiences. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic, creative and multicultural environment.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Perform specialised linguistic services, such as Translation, Proofreading or QA, across different verticals.
  • Track and monitor translation quality, identify potential quality issues and incorrect trends.
  • Provide support and oversee the management of short-notice and urgent requests received from the PM team.
  • Monitor the progress, daily work execution and performance of existing and new staff, and carry out reviews of the work done by other team members.
  • Support Team Lead Language Delivery in understanding linguists’ recurrent needs and challenges, as well as in all day-to-day activities.
  • Onboarding and training of new staff and mentoring of other team members as required.
  • Drive linguistic and technical initiatives and new processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency internally.
  • Participate in team and client meetings, training sessions, workshops, and other ad-hoc discussions.
  • Preparation of documentation, guidelines and training materials as needed.
  • Support business plan strategies, client interactions and activities as required, by reviewing existing business procedures and implementing changes as needed, with the aim of ensuring processes and products meet relevant ISO and regulatory standards.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Translation/Interpretation.
  • Native knowledge of Japanese or solid Japanese background and fluent in English. Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
  • Qualification in medical translation preferred.
  • At least 3-4 years of proven experience in professional translation and 1-2 years of experience in people management roles.


Skills

  • Advanced terminological research skills and ability to find reputable terminology sources.
  • Proficient working knowledge of translation management software.
  • Experience in translating various file formats (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, XML, InDesign).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively verbal and written with different audiences (clients, internal teams, external resources).
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, professional translations.
  • Ability to focus and consistently perform translation and quality assurance tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage stress and work under pressure, aiming at achieving the best balance between quality and speed.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Team work and collaboration skills.
