2024 Camp Counselor - Mainland

Employment Status: Seasonal

Employment Length: 8 weeks between June 25 and August 16, 2024

Mandatory Training: June 25-28, 2024

Remuneration: Between $15.80/hr and $16.95/hr

Reports to: EPIC and Onside Regional Coordinator or Supervisor


These camps are in partnership with Gracepoint Community Church, Rail City Campus and White Rock Baptist.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in a Christian environment 
  • Must be committed to EPIC and Onside’s mission, vision and values
  • Must have experience working with EPIC and Onside, or equivalent camp experience
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills (with parents, staff, campers)
  • Must have the ability to lead campers through daily camp activities
  • Must be at least 15 years of age as of June 25, 2024
  • Must participate in staff training retreat (dates noted above)
  • Must be able, and willing, to swim
  • Experience, knowledge of, and interest in sports and art is a benefit

Responsibilities

  • To build on EPIC and Onside’s positive reputation by demonstrating excellence in all activities 
  • Active, positive participation in the community of camp and in staff activities
  • The employee will be responsible for coaching a group of campers; aiding in their sport and character development; facilitating a faith-based discussion (ie. through ‘team talks’)
  • The employee will be responsible for overseeing and supervising a group of campers during all on and off-site activities 
  • The employee will have an understanding of the age groups of the campers and initiate and develop a caring and accepting relationship with the campers under their care
  • The employee will be responsible for the health and safety of all participants 
  • The employee will be responsible for communicating with parents and guardians
  • The employee will protect all confidential information of the players, campers, staff, and parents
  • Along with the employer’s custodian, ensuring all facilities are clean and tidy, including the gym, washrooms, kitchen, youth room, meeting rooms, auditorium, and etc.), and other such duties
