About Paybis

Paybis is a global fintech company in the crypto and payments space. Since 2014, we've been building products that help people and businesses buy, sell, and exchange cryptocurrency. We serve 1.5M+ customers across 180+ countries, operate as a self-funded company, and hold PCI DSS Level 1 certification.

We're growing our product team and are looking for two Technical Product Owners to join us and take ownership of product streams in the payments domain.

The Role

As a Technical Product Owner at Paybis, you will own the backlog of your product stream end-to-end — from writing detailed technical requirements to driving delivery with the engineering team. This is an individual contributor role with high ownership and no direct reports.

You'll work closely with engineers, the CPO, the CIO, and cross-functional stakeholders. The core of your work is technical documentation: TRDs, BRDs, UML sequence diagrams — written independently and used directly by engineers to build.

If you thrive on turning complex payment flows into precise technical requirements, work autonomously, and enjoy being the bridge between business and engineering — this role is for you.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Own and manage the backlog of your product stream: prioritization, refinement, sprint-ready stories
  • Write Technical Requirements Documents (TRD), Business Requirements Documents (BRD), and UML sequence diagrams independently
  • Define acceptance criteria for complex features with multiple integration dependencies
  • Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the full delivery cycle
  • Participate in integration discussions with external providers at the technical level
  • Work with CPO and product managers on strategic priorities and OKRs
  • Identify gaps, proactively propose improvements, and escalate risks
  • Contribute to the team's knowledge base and documentation standards

What We're Looking For

Must have:

  • 3+ years as a Technical Product Owner, Technical PO or Senior PO in a product company
  • 2+ years in fintech, payments or a regulated technical environment
  • Experience with card payments and/or payment systems — understanding of card acquiring, PSP integrations or payment flows at the requirements level
  • Proven ability to write TRDs independently — this is your core deliverable
  • Ability to write BRDs and UML sequence diagrams without hand-holding from engineers
  • Solid understanding of APIs and integrations: reads Swagger/OpenAPI, understands request/response flows
  • Strong backlog management: prioritization, refinement, sprint planning
  • Stakeholder management across engineering leads, business and C-level simultaneously
  • Analytical thinking: gap analysis, process mapping, requirements workshops
  • High autonomy — defines own priorities and drives outcomes without micromanagement
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • English Upper-Intermediate or higher

Nice to have:

  • Experience in crypto or blockchain products (exchange, wallet, on/off-ramp)
  • Knowledge of MiCA, VASP, or EU crypto regulatory frameworks
  • API-first or platform product ownership experience
  • CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, or equivalent certification
  • Experience with the full Discovery-to-Delivery cycle
  • PCI DSS awareness at a product level
  • Experience with PSP integrations (Checkout.com, Stripe, Adyen, Worldpay, or similar)
  • Understanding of payment orchestration: routing rules, PSP selection, fallback logic
  • Knowledge of alternative payment methods: SEPA, SWIFT, APMs, bank transfers

What We Offer

  • Remote-first with high autonomy and minimal micromanagement
  • Work on a product used by 1.5M+ customers globally — your impact is real and visible
  • Direct collaboration with CPO and engineering leadership
  • Self-funded, stable company without investor pressure
  • Fintech + crypto domain — technically complex, always evolving
  • Clear career path: IC TPO → Senior TPO → TPO Lead

Interview Process

  1. HR Interview (motivation, communication, autonomy, English level)
  2. Technical interview with CIO (requirements depth, API/integration knowledge, domain)
  3. Final interview with CPO (product lifecycle, backlog ownership, trade-off decisions)

Paybis is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants who take ownership seriously, write requirements engineers can actually build from, and want to grow in a fast-moving fintech environment.
