Job brief

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our Finance team in Riga. This role focuses on Latvian accounting and tax compliance for administrative expenses, including VAT treatment, representation cost allocation, and monthly closings. The ideal candidate will have solid technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners. Experience in fintech or crypto is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Expense Accounting: Record and process a wide range of administrative expenses, ensuring correct categorization and VAT treatment.
  • Banking Operations: Post transactions and prepare payment files for approval.
  • Expense Reports & Salary Postings: Process expense payment reports and record salary transactions (no payroll calculation).
  • Month-End / Quarter-End / Year-End Closings: Ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned closing tasks.
  • Primary Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and organized records for all financial transactions.
  • Statistical & Compliance Reporting: Prepare reports as required by Latvian authorities.
  • Internal & External Communication: Collaborate with departments, contractors, and external accountants (Latvia, Poland, UK).


Requirements

  • At least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in administrative expense accounting.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics (completed or in progress).
  • Strong understanding of Latvian accounting and tax regulations, especially VAT.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas).
  • Experience with 1C and/or Xero is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Latvian and English (Russian is a plus).
  • Based in Riga or able to work in a hybrid format with partial office presence.


Nice to Have

  • Experience with tools such as CostPocket or DEX.
  • Familiarity with accounting in the crypto or fintech industry.
