Head of Human Capital

As our business in the UK and Portugal is expanding rapidly, we are seeking a Head of Human Capital to oversee all aspects of HR, talent and internal communications.

 

You will take ownership of all human capital matters across Marionete, from workforce planning and recruitment to performance reviews, retention, salary reviews, career progression, learning and development. Communications will be an important part of the role, as you will help connect employees across geographic borders, build Marionete’s brand as an employer and improve team member engagement, helping embed the culture and DNA of Marionete in our rapidly growing team of technology professionals.  

 

You must have experience as a senior HR leader in the UK or Portugal, with a good understanding of HR regulations in one (or preferably both) of these geographies. 

Ideally, you will bring the experience of managing talent internationally and gravitas to succeed at a senior level. You will be forward-thinking, preferably bringing experience in innovative approaches to managing talent in a rapidly growing agile environment where flexible working is the norm. You will report to Marionete’s head of Operations and join him as a member of Marionete’s Executive Committee, working closely with our UK and Portuguese leadership team.

Key responsibilities:

· Lead and grow Marionete’s HR team (currently one person in PT and a part-time UK recruitment lead)

· Maintain and develop our HR policies and processes, ensuring that we have a transparent and practical approach to managing talent throughout the HR lifecycle for 60 employees in Lisbon and London (and a small number working remotely from other geographies)

· Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of permanent and contract staff in the UK, Portugal and beyond coordinating technical training for new joiners with the Marionete Academy

· Manage our year-end appraisal process, salary review and the associated objective setting (which is currently based on OKRs)

· Monitor team member satisfaction and retention, implementing corrective strategies when issues arise.

· Put in place regular reporting of Key HR Performance Indicators for the Executive Committee

· Help formalise our approach to flexible working while ensuring we can meet our clients’ expectations where necessary

· Strengthen our team member communications at the practical level by establishing regular communications and events, and at a strategic level by working with the Executive Committee to ensure that they are playing their role in building a cohesive and committed workforce

· Ensure our compliance with relevant EU and UK HR and health and safety law and regulations, including those relating to accessing, reviewing, and auditing team member data

· Oversee payroll for UK, Portugal and in some cases, other international locations

Skills and Experience:

· Educated to degree level

· Relevant accreditation as an HR professional (eg membership of the CIPD in the UK or the APG in PT)

· Five years’ experience in an HR role, ideally in a technology or professional services business

· A good understanding of relevant HR laws and regulations in PT and/or the UK

· Experience of all stages of the HR lifecycle (workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, salary reviews, exit)

· Experience running recruitment campaigns and managing recruitment agencies

· Experience in internal communications

· Fluency in English; Portuguese would also be desirable, but not essential for UK based candidates

· Experience in helping define appropriate levels of compensation and benefits in the UK and/or Portuguese technology markets

· Strong communication skills
